I thought De-troit would have taken last. I’ve never heard philly as being a sad city…

Re: Texas Happy. Philly Sad.

Yes, but it still isn’t last. All the people from Philly and detroit should read this- It might make you more happy.

NO WAY!!

DesMoines Iowa is one of the most culturally devoid wastes of space on earth. However most the other cities(the one’s i’ve been to at least) seem to be about right.

I am not depressed.

In fact most the time I’m happy and in a good mood.

Though it does seem that a lot of people around here are unhappy.

I’m always happy. Those around me too. Maybe it’s just me…

Re: Re: Texas Happy. Philly Sad.

Brier would have been right up there too but we don’t have a pharmacy.

Re: Re: Re: Texas Happy. Philly Sad.

Yup. A flaw in the methodology there. A city more prone to prescribing antidepressants will end up getting ranked less happy. Could be that there are some very aggressive marketing going on in Philly to get doctors to prescribe more antidepressants.

Re: Texas Happy. Philly Sad.

If SJ citizens are so happy then why, I ask, do they drive like a bunch of suicidal maniacs on PCP?

I read an article or two correlating depression and aggressive driving, and from what I’ve seen… this town needs some cropdusters loaded with Prozac.

The only reason people in Seattle don’t kill themselves from the depression of all the rain and clouds is because of coffee and beer. There is a special tour here in Seattle of the super old underground city that used to be a functioning city in the 1800s (got ruined by flooding, so they built a new city on top) and the tour guide said that if it wasn’t for coffee and beer, Seattle would be extinct.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Texas Happy. Philly Sad.

There are several headquarters of major drug companies in Philadelphia.

I’ve lived in Texas most of my life and have been to El Paso and Laredo. I can’t imagine how anybody that lives in either of those towns could be happy

YES! Lincoln Nebraska is the 9th happiest city, that makes me so happy.

Yea, it does sometimes seem that everyone is in a bad mood 'round these parts. I dunno, I am usually pretty upbeat.

I thought that Seattle ranked first among major cities in suicides because of the long, dark, wet, overcast , depressing winter. I also thought that adolescents led the demographic age groups in suicide and that females led males. Both of these are driven by hormonal changes and peer group factors. Also, by profession, dentists are supposed to be the most suicidal because of their perception of their patients fearing and hating them. That is why, I suppose, there are no female adolescent dentists in Seattle. They have all committed suicide.
