Hello,
Name is Nate, joined a few months back because I found this new hobby called unicycling. It’s great, for the first time in a long time I’ve found something interesting that also gives me a workout. It gives me something to put my mind into.
Besides that, on a rainy / cold / depressing day I tend to hang around and watch shows. I’ll watch anything, as long as it’s interesting. I also collect tons of shows. I don’t rely on the TV to give me something interesting to watch or I’d be bored stiff. Don’t get me wrong, I only spend a few hours a week watching these shows if it’s a not so busy week at the office/house, but I watch them nonetheless, either by myself or with the family. For awhile now I’ve been mostly rewatching stuff I’ve watched when I was a child…and of course some new stuff.
So if you have memories of fun shows you’ve watched as a kid or found some pretty interesting new shows as an adult, tell us about it, maybe it’s something we can share and/or relate, and maybe if you’re convincing, maybe it will be something to be checked out next!. If there’s an interest in this subject, I’ll increase the list, but here’s a few random shows and my history/thoughts behind them:
Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z:
As a young kid with no brothers or sisters or relatives that live close by, I had to find ways to chase Mr. Boredom away. Besides enjoying long study sessions reading up on my mathematics and history school books , I found this cool show on cable. I wasn’t introduced to Dragon Ball until much much later. Dragon Ball Z was what I watched and it was a blast. The issue at the time is that whenever it got close to the episode in which they’re about to confront really duke it out with the Ginyu force around episode 58 (wiki), the anime would stop and it would restart from the very first episode. Happened two or three times, there was one time when it was getting close and that anxiety of actually hopefully having new episodes to watch came, but then we had to move to another apartment and it took forever to get cable again. I never got to watch it. I don’t really remember how old I was, but I believe I was maybe around 10 at the time.
Flash forward 7 years later or so. While randomly searching ebay, I came across it. The whole collection in dub, Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT. $35 shipped. Got it a few days later, popped in the data disc with all of the files in RM format, played it. That day I watched 35 episodes of it. Childhood memories, one of the happiest moments in my life, something I’ve been waiting YEARS to watch and complete. Might not be considered great to some of you, but it was one of the most enjoyable times ever for me.
Since then I’ve discovered some other shows:
TV SERIES
- Hercules: The Legendary Journeys with Kevin Sorbo TV series (I LOVED weird creatures)
- The Adventures of Sinbad 1996-1998 TV series (low budget with some horrific acting and special effects not to mention never completed, but it was interesting)

- Married With Children (I did not really start watching this show until about two months ago and got hooked)
- Family Matters (An American TV show with a good ending, fulfilling ending, what do you know?! Jaleel White’s portrayal of the notorious Steve Urkel is by far his best)
- Saved By the Bell (Zack Morris and the gang!)

- The Jetsons
- Chip n Dale
- Darkwing Duck
- Gargoyles
- The Pirates of Dark Water
- The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest
