Anyone any ideas how I can get on to the English language version of the forum? I always get sent to the German one, and have to guess what most of the headings mean:(

I’m no techno-wiz, but I think you’re here.
Well, I guess in the obvious sense you’re right - I am amongst the English speaking forum posters and not on the “Eiradforum”. But - all the surrounding stuff (how many posters are there, check your profile, message heading, etc) is in German.
This makes it difficult to figure out what I’m doing, and all the FAQs are in German too.
The only English bits are the forum links at the top of the page 
Just a guess(!), and asuming you’re using MSIE:
tools > internet options > the below that in that dialog-box: languages > …then move english above german.
(eventually followed by a traditional reboot).

Can’t help thinking it’s something to do with how I access the forum, as other sites are ok. Maybe I’m being re-routed to the German home site or something?
“Danke fur deine help?” Shouldn’t it be “Danke fur eure Helfen.” (with an umlaut over the u in “fur”.
Hey, if I knew that, I wouldn’t be worried about everything being in German!
The sum total of my German to date has been learned by guessing what things mean in this forum.

user cp > Einstellungen bearbeiten > almost all below: Diverses, Style Set.
Set this to default
press Anderungen speicheren

south african isn’t a language as such
there is some comedic value in the strange hybrid of languages that is rather uniquely South Africa but that is usualy reffered to as ‘SEFRICAN’
i suspect u want to know if i speak Afrikaans, a language that has pidgin roots very close to Dutch (and about 6 or 7 other languages) and the answer is yes

Last weekend I decided to use the (so called) zuid-afrikaanse manual of some software, in stead of the English version. That was funny for me.
when i was a t university, i took a course called ‘Afrikaans-Dutch’ and actually had to read a novel in Dutch
i can’t remember the novel but i do remember never quite getting used to the Dutch and never quite managing to shake the feeling that this was some kind of practical joke
Flemish is also supposed to be very close to Afrikaans

Yes there are a couple of (Flamish-)Belgiums out here. The Dutch and the Belgium unicyclists met on last European Juggling Festival.
I’m seriously considering “immigrating” there. Or maybe I should say remigrating since my name comes from there.
Flamish is just a dialect, no language. In deed it tends more to Zuid-Afrikaans than plain Dutch does, because Flamish is (like Afrikaans) more old-fashioned and pure. In general they use less words to communicate with more essence. I use to install desktops in Flamish.
