Tech klutz needs help

As I type this, steam rises from my ears, my brow is furrowed and a dark storm of despair is brewing, boding ill for my neighbours on the far side of a thin wall…

I have just gone onto a contract phone, and chose a Nokia 6680, mainly because it has a camera. How nice to be able to take photos to illustrate my ride reports, if I ever have time to ride again!

So, I have taken some photos, and I can view them in the gallery on the phone. But can I for the life of me work out how to get them onto the PC? Rhetorical question. No I bloomin’ can’t.

Searching in My Computer shows a Nokia browser and various folders, with no files in them. I can find nothing in the phone’s menu that helps. Can any of you trendy young things help?

All I need to know is: how do I get the photos from the phone to the computer?

Thanks awfully.:o

I hopefully will explain as soon as i find the info, But do you have a mmc (external) card in it or are you saving it to the phone internal memory??

Mike

If you have a bluetooth dongle then you can send them vi bluetooth… reply if you dont know what i mean

Mike

Ok here it is…

You should have a Nokia PC Suite cd you need to install this on the comp (follow instructions). You should then be able to connect your phone with the comp using the cable you got when you bought the phone (usb).

Mike

I believe I have installed all the relevant bits of the CD.

I am using USB as the computer does not have a blue tooth capability.

Still stuck.

Mike:(

1:41 a.m., just got back from a Morris dancing event tired and slightly drunk and worked out how to do it.

That was the answer: more beer!

Anyway, all sorted, thanks.

Mike:)

I just got a Samsung Note 3 (the $ was pretty low w/ my contract renewal). I mostly got it for the bigger screen & multitasking for school.

OK to my problem. It hurts my eyes after ~ an hour of setting it up & watching vids. It’s kind of like I’d been watching TV in a darkroom, or working in a room w/ flickering florescent lights for hours.

I never had this w/ my older phones [I phone 4 (3.5" screen), Motorola M (4")] even after MUCH longer use. The Note has a super AMOLED screen (or just OLE screen? Difference?) the older phones had LED screens if that matters.

The Note usually gives me the “desktop” version of most web sites instead of the mobile one, effectively giving me smaller text size, but I noticed symptoms before I did much reading (maybe 5 min?).

> “Age: 40”
Welcome to middle age.

I started using Opera when Chrome stopped being able to resize text. Idk if they fixed that or not >.< That might help with the reading bit. As for the general tired eyes thing - Could it be that your screen is just too bright?

And yeah, 40+ is when it all starts happening lol.

We have about 30 Samsung Galaxy Note IIIs at STEP, 22 of which we got right as they were dropping off the market. They are very popular with our managers and Deaf users (who do a lot of 2-way video communications). No complaints from that group about the screen.

It’s possible that yours may have a slight defect in the display, perhaps a flicker that’s at the edge of noticeability? Or maybe it’s set too bright, which I know my wife’s can do (especially in a car at night!).

The Verizon version of the phone comes with the generic “Browser” and Chrome, but yes you can try others through the Play Store.

It’s possible your eyes are bothered because the larger screen is not something they’re used to at the distance you may be holding it. Give it a few days and see if your eyes adjust, or if it remains annoying.

I had it at min brightness.

Apparently that was the problem. I downloaded a filter app allowing me to dim it further and my problem appears to be solved. plus I have a faster, easier way of changing brightness for inside/outside for visibility and battery life

You must have eyes like a hawk :stuck_out_tongue:
I’m glad you sorted it
