I’m an elementary music teacher.
Three and a half days to go!
I’m on the board of a summer music camp up here so I’ll be doing some summer music stuff. This is also touring season so I’ll be gigging quite a bit…maybe I’ll be able to afford a 36er!
Well, sadly it will not be very much of a break for me. But it will be rather nice not having the place cluttered up with students so much of the time. They really do get in the way.
Wait, what if you teach people to unicycle lol? I do that sometimes I officially leave secondary school in 4 day, but i have 2 exams and the prom next week too Then its 3 months of work, unicycling, restoring the mini and partying lol!
I teach sixth grade SCIENCE in Los Gatos, CA. Best grade ever. 3 days (including today) to go!!! Woot! Happy dance.
UPS tracking for my KH29 has begun. My newest family member is somewhere on its way to sunny CA. I hope I don’t hurt myself with all this happy dancing. I don’t even know how to dance.
I am assistant prof at one medical school, and adjunct prof at another. I do very little to earn the fancy titles apart from acting as preceptor to some residents, and indulging myself by spending time doing stuff that fascinates me, and calling it research.
Does this count as being a teacher? (I get the teacher’s discount in bookshops, but feel guilty about doing so.)
I want to teach other people to unicycle. (Don’t you think that would really make me a teacher?)
Well, the fat lady sang and school is out :D. I’m sitting here waiting for the UPS truck to show up. Tracking says it’s to be delivered today. I’m having a panic attack that I won’t be able to mount a 29er. My 26 is no problem so I’m hoping a 29 is not much more difficult.
Trickcyclist, you should not feel guilty about getting a discount. Books are overpriced as is. Textbooks are the worst. Even if you don’t teach in the classroom you are still working in education. Whenever I buy an expensive item I ask about a teacher’s discount. Sometimes I am given 10% off. I should have asked UDC:p.
You’ll be fine on the 29. I had the same reservations but went on blind faith that everyone encouraging me on the forums was right. And they were.
It was an adjustment from a 24 at first because it was soooo scary to be that high. But now, the 29 is just right. At times seems very small.
A KH 29… I’m doing a happy dance for you and I won’t even be able to try it.

I am a Java evangelist … that is: I teach to (grown up) students with a gaping mouth about the magic of programming. Do I qualify as a teacher?
Kudos to teachers who teach adults! I did that for a few years and …well let’s just say even with all the stress, lack of parental support, and bureaucracy with administrators, I’m back with the kiddies.
“gaping mouths”… makes one think of helpless little birdies pushing forward in the nest to get a piece of a worm. Quite appropriate analogy.
The 29 is great. I’ve used on and off road. When I went back to the 24 I was able to climb stuff that I didn’t think I would be able to do. It’s amazing that even at my ADVANCED age I am building stronger muscles.
The tote bag thing. Teachers have a closet full some where. There should be a contest to see who has the most and what clever thing we could do with them.
I teach adults in a Further Education college. Actually here is a link that I posted on another thread but it’s still relevant. Notice the short unicycling clip on the page. It’s actually fun to work in the college and I enjoy the job!
Now the college is helping me set up unicycling lessons for teenagers and local community groups. This includes administrative help in applying for funding to purchase 20 unicyles
