t-shirt idea

expanding on the ‘language of unicycling’ shirt concept, i thought it might make for an interesting shirt to list the ‘wrong’ names people call unicycles
‘one wheel bicycle’ must be the best known misnomer
are there enough incorrect terms people use to refer to a unicycle to fill up a t-shirt?

thoughts and suggestions please

Whenever I’m out riding my unicycle people say the same thing every time. They either ask me where the other wheel got to or tell me I got ‘ripped off’ and only got the one wheel. It’s funny because they all think they’re being really original and funny.

Not only do people call my unicycle a one wheel bike, but some just call it a bike!

Circus bike (double politically incorrect)
Circus cycle
Crazy cycle
Half bicycle

And that’s just the English ones that cross my mind, not counting
variations. I’d have a couple of Dutch terms too, mostly translations
of above.

Remark: I’m not sure if this will be a T-shirt I want.

“Look mommy…A trrricycle!”

yeah

a one-wheeler

I’ve actually had it called a “unicorn” 3 different times.

Hi,

You could also put all the unicyling terms that are accurate on a shirt instead.

How about a shirt that lists the 10 Unicycling Skill levels? That way you could always remember what you need to work on next.

How about a t-shirt that is the Anatomy of Muni … have all the extreme components of a top-end Muni diagnosed and labelled on the shirt?

Just some variations on a t-shirt idea, if they havent been done already, that is.

Lewis

I was riding around Sea World and I heard a little girl call it a one-legged thingy. Another time I heard a mother tell her very young daughter that I was riding a one-wheeled bicycle and the daughter told her that it wasn’t a one-wheeled bicycle but it was a unicycle. I laughed so hard I had to get off my wheel.

Aj

When I am out riding, what I also get a lot of people calling my uni a ‘bike’. I think that is soooo stupid, dont they reallise that the word bike is short for bicycle?..oh well.

I think that is a great idea Lewis!

-Mike

Great ideas! I have always wanted to design a shirt with the saying:

“Old unicyclists never die! They just have more idle time!?!”

Re: t-shirt idea

I’m going the other way…since I ride a bike I’m going to print a t-shirt for when I’m biking. It will probably have a downwards pointing arrow on the back and the words: “I’ve found my other wheel” or “two wheeled unicycle” or words to that effect.

Some of the incorrect unicycle terms people have used on me:
*halfbike
*unibike
*that one wheel thingee
*uni tractor (for my MUni with Gazz tyre)
*What the ???#@!$???
*monobike

Re: t-shirt idea

How about a picture of a milk carton with a wheel on it?

Re: Re: t-shirt idea

Oh, that would be good. “Have you seen my other wheel”. I think it would be hard to make the artwork look clean without being too busy with the milk carton and all.

Maybe an Amber alert on the shirt? Is there a recognizable format for the Amber alerts? Or just make it look like the missing persons posters.

(currently trying to find the perfect dose of gama rays…)

It’s crude, lame and short, I know, but hey, it’s a start. I mean, I’d buy a t-shirt with this on it…

Here is a page with some interesting milk carton drawings
<http://www.burningcircus.com/content/milk.shtml>

I like the milk carton and missing/wanted poster ideas. I think the missing poster would make a better t-shirt just because it would probably look better as a 1 or 2 color t-shirt design. But the milk carton has certain bit of extra humor in it though.

Adding 1-800-UNICYCLE as the contact number is great.
