You may have problems finding a suspension post with that small of a diameter.
However, this is how I adapted a 27.2 mm post for my MUni:
I bought a Rock Shox suspension post, which consists of an inner aluminum tube
inside the outer seatpost tube, with elastomers that sit at the bottom of the
seatpost, below the bottom of the inner tube. The bottom of the post is threaded
to accept a screw that pretensions the elastomers.
I took the post apart and sawed off the bottom of the outer tube at the maximum
length that would fit in my MUni and not hit the tire. I then had the tube
tapped to fit the pretension screw. The elastomers were no longer effective with
a shortened post length, so I replaced them with a spring from a Manitou brand
front fork shock. Manitou brand seems to fit better than other types.
This setup works incredibly well, and I can ride all day without having a
sore rear end.
Cheers,
Kris.

I don’t get any noise as long as everything is well greased

I thought about this, but it didn’t prove necessary, at least for me. You can
get different weights of springs; I weigh about 145 lbs and have a medium
weight spring.

You can buy replacement springs at any Manitou dealership. I tried Rock Shock
and Marazochi brands too and Manitou brand springs seemed to fit the best.
Most bike shops will sell you a USE one and they have a 25.4mm dia shaft. They
also sell shims to fit what ever you want. They will even sell a reduced length
one if you ask. I had to because my legs are a little bit short, but I would
have thought that you would be ok.

I had to get an adapter plate welded up. I will send you a picture if you
would like.

Mine was fitted to the 700c that was at the race on Saturday/Sunday.
