My new business makes models for science center displays. I want to sculpt a few things that are a real challenge, as examples of what I can do. Things that when finished, people running science centers will say WOW, I want her to do my exhibit!!!
Any ideas?
Here are some things I was thinking:
malaria life cycle
jellyfish
Ciliate protozoon with cilia
hookworm or tardigrade
The finished sculpture should fit within a 1’ x 1’ x 2’ box about.
I have a wide range of methods at my disposal including direct modelling, casting, vacuum forming in both opaque and transparent materials. Painting is also fine
Well, I don’t know what any of those mean except for jellyfish, but the last three would be good. But I don’t think a life cycle would be very interesting, but it might show that you know what you are doing with science and all.
So you should do something that will show you are good and that you know about science.
That’s a good one. Mitochondria are pretty cool little things. I read once that it is believed that long ago they were akin to bacteria, and invaded primative eukaryotic cells. The symbiosis was so effective that the invaded cells dominated over the cells without the mitos!!
