what is sif?what does it mean?
Seat In Front. Helps give the rider more hop height potential as it allows much more tuck and knee bend since the seat is…well, in front, and out of your way.
I do find it a little funny to see some riders riding sif for very small curb sized hops only–might seem a bit pretentious, but still probably good practice.

welcome to the forums, don’t worry about the search feature so much. you might need it for the first month, but if you become a regular you shouldn’t need it too often.if you have a question, shoot it. there are many acronyms on this site that took me a long time to understand, i’ll try to ressurect the old thread some people throw hissie fits either way. I don’t worry about it anymore…

Don’t worry, there are good people here. Also you will run into the “Geez dude, don’t you know how to search?” many times, I guess they don’t know how to NOT open a thread. Just ignore.

SIF is pretty handy when you’re learning to hop higher to land on higher jumps. I’ve yet to find it useful because I haven’t perfected the SIF technique for hopping yet (I’m on a 24" so its sort of a pain right now) but I think it will come with time and in the long run be much more useful than seat in hopping.
