stupid laws

:frowning:  :frowning: i went to the store and picked out a color and got some sandpaper to paint my uni. so i go to the self checkout because i only have 2 items and all the others are busy i swipe the spray paint and it tells me i needed approval so then i remeber that minors cant buy spray paint  so now my uni is all taped up its raining to boot and i cant get paint till later this week:(

Ah, that sucks. How do the self check outs know you are underage? You can pay with cash…

they cant but they lock up intill the approval code is entered and to get the code entered you have to show your id to the supervisor and im only 16.:stuck_out_tongue:

Blame your peers for being graffiti punks.
Or you can blame the system for being stupid, but that just makes you cynical.

But without graffiti we wouldnt have those awesome pics of Xavier busting moves infront of it.

I don’t think it’s restricted to adults because of graffiti…more likely it’s because a lot of teens use it to get high.

hehe ouch!^^(Stupid losers go get someone to bootleg ya some booze) Yeah if their being like that swipe it off the bastard without em knowing. But yeah that’s pretty stupid. I’ve bough spray paint before and they never did nothing.

Are you trying to actually say something, or are you just copying random words from the dictionary? 'Cuz I have no idea what that meant.

What do you mean? I meant if they are gonna be jerks about it swipe it off em. Or try some were else.

haha lol i live in canada where jack asses dount right shit on the wall i just bought some today and got 2 cots on my uni

I think some forum members are spray painting in poorly ventilated areas. So maybe it’s a good thing they restrict the sale to children.

No, it’s because of graffiti. Anti-graffiti sites mention the age restrictions as a way to reduce graffiti. For example here for suggested legislation:

The restrictions on purchasing spray paint are local. Enacting them depends on the local graffiti problem. If you’re out in the country away from the city graffiti problems a teen will be able to buy spray paint.

Inhalants are a different issue. Spray paints are used as inhalants but there are so many other inhalants that can be purchased no problem that restricting spray paint because of inhalant abuse makes no sense. You’d also have to restrict every kind of aerosol (deodorant, hair care, etc), and various solvents. I’m not aware of age restrictions on purchasing those items unless those restrictions are local in areas I’m not familiar with.

That’s because anybody can legally buy spray paint around here. Graffiti is not a real problem here; sure you see it on train cars fairly often, but it’s really not a huge problem.

Gold spray paint gets put behind the counter around here for that purpose. Not sure why another color wouldn’t work just as well though!

You’re not allowed to buy a wrist rocket if you’re under 18 either.

what color?

A wrist rocket sounds like some sort of unpleasent sexual practise, would you care to elighten me? I have no idea how old you have to be to buy spraypaint in the UK, I don’t think there’s a restriction.

wrist rocket does sound kinda weird but once you google it it makes since its just a sling shot. :sunglasses:

Googleing ‘wrist rocket’, the first listing is a link to www.sexshop365.co.uk
You’ve got to be be 16 to get your hand on one of these in the UK, commonly known as ‘black widows’.

lol wrist rocket…

well how nice

but as for spray paint, in the UK they asked me what i was gonna do with it when i bought a can last time… and i was like… obviously to do graphiti… stupid uk laws…
