Yeah, plus, there would be a lot more incompatibility, and a lot more “does this part fit on this?” threads.
what I think would be great ofr unicycling, is if everyone starts making universal bearing sizes and hub widths(with the exception of coker hubs).
then it would be alot less confusing buying parts and putting together custom unicycles because you would now that everything would work together.
By long seat post I mean one that the seat clamp touches the riders seat on. This would be good because on alot of flat land stuff I find my seat clamp in the way.
I think the only problems we have with that already are the torker and profile bearings/frames. Bearing incapability is a really small issue because they can usually be shimmed to fit if the bearings are too small for the frame.Hub width doesn’t matter because frames can bend to fit the bearing spacing.
There are separate unis for muni and trials. Trials unis suck for muni and munis aren’t as good for trials riding. If there were separate trials and street unis it would be the same thing, each having parts being better suited for that style. You could obviously use a trials uni for street with no problem but if you can make a change that is really useful for street (20" rims for example) then if you are a street rider there is no reason to ride a trials uni.
^^^^^^^^
ditto that:D
Wow 2 people posted before I wrote this. Maybe I should refresh my browser more often.
Well anyway the ditto goes to two post’s above.
that looks pretty good
is that for trials rims or just regualar 20 inch ones
wouldn’t you want a trials tire/ rim for really big set drops though?
It woudl depend, if you started making the 48 holed rims and hubs making a strong 20 inch wheel. Why wouldnt triels riders start using those wheel instead. Like in bike trials, some do trials with Mods, 19 inch tires, and other use 26 inch wheels.
I would guess people would start using the 19inch for trials, when other would use the street 20inch wheels for trials if they feel they hold up better for them.
Why? this wheel is a lot stronger than my trials wheel.
wouldn’t a trials tire absord more of the impact because of the 19" rim?
at least theyd last longer
Not with tires like the twenty-g. It would probably be about the same.
I think the problem with street specific unis is that many people want different things. Personaly I am quite happy with 19 inch rims, as they are generaly really nice and wide and damn strong (although yeah you can bend them, as I have). I love the width and general volume of a trials tire, although I would like to try at some point a slicked tire. I would also like to see some frames that fit wide tires coming with long necks, not crazy long but still longer than what most have right now.
I like the idea of using bmx tires. But I think trials unicycles are perfectly fine for street, The only thing that could be better is the tires, maybe koxx or KH should bring out a 19" street tire. I would like a 19x2.4 tire with semi-smooth tread.
I agree^^
But why make a whole new tire to fit the rim when you could switch the rim and pick whatever tire you want?
so wait… does that 20G fit on a 19" rim, or is it a different one?
No^^
Well a bmx tire would be too narrow for me.
The 20g is as wide as a trials tire. The fly bikes Ruben tire is in the 2.4-2.5 range. The revenge industrys tire is like 2.3. There are plenty of wide tires for bmx rims.
