Hi y’all,
I like the internet, so I’d really be psyched if these SOPA and PIPA things were stopped. Contact your reps in congress and the house to make sure this gets crushed.
Gilby, I’m surprised unicyclist.com wasn’t blacked out today, actually.

here ya go
Ya know, I was surprised by his not blacking out this website, or tinyurl, which reaches a much larger audience. Especially since I suspected this sort of thing to be right up his alley. Although also knowing him I could see that he wouldn’t post a SOPA/PIPA thing as he never was someone to push his views on others too much. I’m sure he has a good reason for not doing anything.
There aren’t enough days in a year to have a 24 hour blackout each time a criminal protection racket proposes to make it easier for their thugs to violate the rights of others. That, and I didn’t have the time to even consider it.
If I did it on TinyURL, that would break Wikipedia’s use of the TinyURL they are using to help you share their anti-sopa message on social networks.
I thought this one was big enough to be considered… considering HUGE website such a google did it.
Anyways, for everyone reading this, please sign this
signed a few days ago i am ahead of the curve
I signed it yesterday, while the black tape was on.
Really nice TED talk about SOPA and PIPA, I recommand it:
When major sites go dark, Wiki, Redit, etc. , it has major effects. Political effects. For Gilby to close this forum, for a day, for a political reason, would have an effect.
I applaud Gilby’s decision not to make a political statement by blanking UDC forums for a day. We are a small community, and I am glad that Gilby does not take on himself the mantle to speak for us.
We should be happy to have a forum moderator who keeps us online with no apparent censorship. Actually, I think SOPA sucks, I kinda like the major site black outs. For one thing, it worked, SOPA tanked.
Still, I think we are lucky to have a guy like Gilby, who keeps the place running, and doesn’t censor ideas he doesn’t believe.
+1.
I’ve been on other forums that are heavily moderated, and this one is a breath of fresh air every time I’m on here.
Yup, more props for Gilby!
That video clip above was really informative. I compare this situation to companies that rent out storage lockers. Should they be required to monitor everything people put in those lockers? Should they be held responsible if something illegal is stored in those lockers? I think they should not. The responsibility should be borne by the people who are sharing the illegal stuff. That’s where the law is being broken, not by the tool they’re using to share it.
unicyclist.org was black
ALL PEOPLE FOCUS VERY MUCH ON SOPA AND PIPA
…and in the same week get ACTA another step in the EP.
