Big improvements today!! Constant practice and experimenting with different techniques (as well as using a shoe with more grip) is bearing fruits.
Today I jumped down to pedals for the second time ever, first on camera.

Very nice! We’re really very close although I think you’re progressing a bit faster… although I think I am now a bit straighter up than you (as I was about 4 weeks ago).
After a 2 week break as the gyms were closed for school holidays, I had a good session on Tuesday. My duration and control in stand-up looks similar to yours, but I think I’m now a bit straighter (I’ve been working on that a lot).
I don’t start from the wall, but step-up mount, which is pretty solid now (say 70% success).
I managed to go from riding to stand-up about 6 times (maybe 15% success). And about 3 times from 1-ft wheel walk as you do in the video.
I also worked on step-down to pedals with success about 6 times in about 3 hour session. I think I got 2 on video but not the good ones, as it was near the end when I was a bit tired.
I tried the transition out into wheel walk like you do (that same transition from stand hopping is very consistent for me), but I couldn’t quite get it. But getting close. Yours look quite stable!!
I haven’t tried the drop/jump to pedals yet.
Although my mount to 1ft wheel walk is quite consistent, I wasn’t comfortable trying the jump mount to 1ft ww.
I think/hope riding step-up to stand walk as well as 1ft ww to stand walk should get pretty consistent soon. I would like to be able to consistently do riding-standwalk-riding, but will probably take a number of more weeks…
Oh, I just say in the last video that you also do riding step-up to stand walk! Nice! Mine I do a bit different as I hold the seat during the transition and then let go and straighten up. Without the hand looks cleaner! I’ll have to try that next week.
You should try it first as a mount, holding the seat. The same as you are doing but starting with the left foot behind the frame instead of on the frame, as you would do for stand up hopping.
I think the hardest part to do it from riding is that it takes more time since you have to change the position of the foot before starting to ride, increasing the chance of loosing balance.
Up and down without hands![]()
And just now unexpectedly got the jump without hands![]()
Wow! Very impressive. Both very nice.
I haven’t had much chance to practice the last weeks, although last week I did successfully do one of each: step down to pedals once; riding to standup maybe twice; and 1-ft wheel walk to standup once.
I thought about it and pedals jump to stand walk seems doable and I tried it once and while didn’t land it, seems indeed possible.
Nice work.
Still one month till unicon freestyle, you can get it consistent![]()

Got in some more practice. So Stand-Up Wheel Walk is becoming much more stable (I’m a lot more upright now): https://youtu.be/5e3is51RUaE
And free-handed stand hopping also solid. Including transistion to stand walk as well as transistion to wheel walk:
