St. Joseph, MO Trials Competition

May 8th there’s going to be a (bike) Trials Competition in St. Joseph, MO. I’m considering the drive down (about 7 hours for me). Anyone else in range want to go and join in? When I talked with the organizer at a comp last fall he invited me down, so I assume that means uni’s are okay to compete.

It would mean competing under bike trials rules, but that’s not a bad thing. It’s just a bit different.

I would really do this I didn’t have water polo games this weekend. It’s about an 8hr. drive for me. For bike trials rules, it seems you can pedal grab but you only get 3 secs before you get penalized?

There are two systems. One is that only the tires can touch anything. under that system a pedal grab wouldn’t be legit. System two is that anything but the bars can touch, under that system pedal grabs are dab-less moves. My understanding is that the non-pro level riders get to use the second system. (which is where I fit in, at least).

Max, your “permission” to use unicycles sounds a little sketchy. I’d get a confirmation of that before you make the long trip. If you have it in an email they are much less likely to turn you away…

That was poorly worded of me. What I meant to say is “After competing next to and tying the organizer at another competition last fall he invited me down. Since the two competitions are using the same rules unicycles are allowed to compete.”

Just letting everyone know that I’m changing my status to definitely going, in case that helps anyone change their mind as well.
