special trick

Hey people,

this tricks looks so cool. To hold on the unicycle, put your hands on the wheel and stretch the legs in the air… it doesn’t have any using, but it looks so easy and very professional.
But how can I learn this trick without much pain in the certain critical zones…or must I holding out this pain ;- ??

For those who does’nt know which trick it is: Adam Ryznar show’s it at Universe…

thanks for tips.

Re: special trick

Felix,

  1. Put saddle lower
  2. Slowly roll to a momentary stillstand
  3. Lean down and grab tyre
  4. For the first few times just take your feet off the pedals momentarily
    (this is easy)
  5. Work on moving you feet higher (this is harder)

Hi Leo,

thank you for your introductions. A couple of minutes ago I tested the
“hold-on-the-unicycle-put-hand-on-wheel-an-stretch-legs-in-the-air-trick” (is there any name for this?) with a lower saddle. I must say, a low saddle position is very important for this. But it’s bad to putting down the saddle before making the trick. Or I must find a good position between “high” and “low”…
I’am trying all the time…

thanks

a “no-footer” sounds better

Re: special trick

I’ll add that this trick is one of the few that are way easier on a 24"+
uni - less way to reach down. For getting yourself ready you can hop on the
spot to get the stillstand just right before reaching down. When reaching
from a hop it helps a lot to have your butt on the seat (but not pressing
down) before reaching. This helps cut down on any weight shift when you
reach. As you reach sit down properly on the seat and take a firm grab of
that tyre.

RE: A no-footer sounds better…

ummm, im just a newb, but wouldn’t that be a no-footer wheel walk, since he’s grabbing the tyre?

Re: RE: A no-footer sounds better…

No because you are not pushing the wheel foward.

Hand wheelwalking is a trick though.

Spread Eagle?

as long as we’re on the subject of tricks… anybody see the video at http://gallery.unicyclist.com/yoggi?page=1 with the handstand on the frame on the ground then the kickup mount? It is pretty pimp. Any idea how to do it? I can hardly do a handstand anyway… By the way, EVERYONE should have those vids, they are awesome.

Re: special trick

I know what you mean and so I usually do this kind of trick seat out, I think it’s easier in the long run too.

Not to demote what this guy is doing in any way, but if you look closely you can see that the whole sequence is 4 different takes patched together.

no-footer sounds good to me, and that’s what I’d call it. Jacinto Ayuso takes it a little further in U2 and instead of reach down and grabbing the tire, he just does a 180 instead. I presume this would be called a no-footed 180?

ive never been able to do these more than a tiny bit (just takin my feet off about an inch), just cus it hurts too much!! my friends can do it easily, and can click their heels behind the wheel whilst doin the trick.

i dont think it should be called a no-footer, although it is, because a real no-footer is different, like in universe 2. but i do think it should be called something to do with no-footer, like
“tyre-grab no-footer” or somethin.

ive been workin on no-footers for a while, and did about my biggest one yet last week (its in my avatar:D )

iain

yeah, I saw the little skips, but still pretty cool. I like the vids anyway. Which reminds me, what are the top ten vids on the gallery?
