Speaking of stupid questions

Did BMW ever have anything to do w/ unicycles? My idiot friend seems to think so. Maybe someone could put it to rest. Thanks

British Muni Weekend = BMW That’s to do with unicycles!

BMW = Bayerische Motoren Werke, which in English is more or less “Bavarian Motor Works”. They are primarily a car manufacturer, aiming for the quality end of the market.

BMW Motorrad = Bayerische Motoren Werke Motorcycles. They make motorcycles which are generally regarded as high quality, excellent for touring, but rather pricey.

BMW is not a pedal cycle company. However, over recent years, many prestige car brands have “branded” prestige bicycle brands to emphasise the “lifestyle” aspect of owning the car. Ferrari “branded” some super lightweight road race bikes, for example. I would not be surprised if BMW “branded” some high end mountain bikes.

It is not beyond possibility that at some time, as a promotional gimmick, BMW have endorsed a BMW branded unicycle, but it is unlikely. BMW are very careful of their “respectable, prestige” market niche.

The motorcycle company is making big strides into the “leisure lifestyle” (posing!) type of bike, rather than the more traditional big mileage tourer. I could sort of imagine them having a unicycle in one of their adverts, but I have no reason to believe they ever have.

I’d rather have surprised you, but here’s a link anyway.

Broken link, for me anyway… unknown protocol or summat.

Sory.

I’ve fixed it now.

Thanks for letting me know.

I was surprised to find Ferrari did the same thing… even with children’s bikes!
