Sorry kids. Looks like you won’t be able to access unicyclist.com from school or public libraries if the Senate goes along with what the House just passed.
Web sites like Amazon.com and MySpace.com may soon be inaccessible for many people using public terminals at American schools and libraries, thanks to the U.S. House of Representatives. Linky
that’s interesting. At my school we have a pretty strict web filter that already limits myspace but unicyclist is still accessible. I would expect for kids to find several ways to get past the filter, there are already a couple easy ways.
Hey, MySpace is useful for researching things like bands and radio DJs. That’s important stuff that you can find there on MySpace. Legitimate research.
Yeah, I use myspace for people to listen to my music, or to eaily gather all my friends with a bulliten instead of calling them all up. Though the phone is more reliable.
I just hate the people on myspace who try to get as much friends as they can and then dressing all slutty to attract more people to add them.
my school uses surf control to block what we can view. I take it under my own control to disable this nasty filter so I can view what I want. another way is to just make your own proxy:D
It’s to protect us from the 50 year old, hairy, beer-drinking men impersonating 21 year old women.
In all seriousness though, that’s not trhat much worse than it is now at my school…we can’t access much anyway…somehow this is still allowed through the filters though.
Just going around the filter doesn’t cahgne anything. This is bad law that let’s a few bad apples spoil the bunch. Most libraries and schools now. Require a parental consent for minors to use the internet. If parents would monitor their own kids activities there wouldn’t be any problem. Hopefully the American Libraries assoication fights this.
