Basically I’m trying to use sony vegas to edit my videos because i’d like something better than WMM, my camera (kodak zx1) captures video in the .mov format
when i open this in sony vegas it says offline media, imports fine, but wont play it, just a black screen
Can anybody help me with this? i’d love to step it up from WMM
Do i have to get myself adobe premier pro?
Do you have quicktime installed?
It says it installs it whenever itunes updates, so im pretty sure I do.
To check, just go into iTunes and click on ‘Store’ at the top and then scroll to ‘Check for available downloads’. I’m pretty sure that if you don’t have Quicktime, it’ll ask you if you want to install it.
Quicktime causes some problems in Sony Vegas, though I am not sure the newest version still does. Anyways, try to get the actual version of Quicktime and if this does not help then uninstall the program including the Quicktime-Folder in C:/Programs. After this go to get http://www.free-codecs.com/download/quicktime_alternative.htm It’s something very similar to Quicktime but with the opportunity to use .MOV files.
Well I am sure you will have fun using Sony Vegas as it is the worlds greatest program that was ever made!
If all else fails, I like to use a video file converting program called “SUPER”
It’s completely free and you can use it to convert your files, it should barely take away any of the quality from your original .mov files.
ahh, thanks guys, it was a quicktime problem
Basically, the new quicktime update broke .mov compatibility with vegas, so i had to install an older version of quicktime and now everything works great! (7.6.0) if anybody cares
Also i had a problem with the audio not working when it was .mov, but when i changed the extension to .mp4 it worked fine, weird
