oooo,
so i might start to play some more soccer soon, it is pretty fun, i think i will play it!!!
i haven’t played in a while, but it is fun, too bad its like 90 degrees outside
well, imma go play it now!!
I had never played soccer, and neither had a bunch of my friends. This was back in the early 1990’s in Cleveland, OH.
We were all out of shape and decided to get together at the local park to play each Sunday afternoon. It was a lot of fun, we never played for points. Soon some of the neighborhood kids began to play with us. They were all better than us and were eager to teach us. This went on for a good part of the summer, then some men who were absolutely incredible at soccer started stopping by. they showed us so much, most all had foreign accents. It was several months from then we realized that they were members of the Cleveland Crunch (that city’s soccer team)!
I’ll always remember what good sports all the kids and pros were playing with us novices.
wheres yoooooopers?
i play in barefeet, as i just dont do anything in shoes unless i am told to other wise, it is so much fun, i want to play in a league next year barefooted!!!
Yeah my 2 bestfriends are on the traveling team for soccer, except i dont like it, PLAY HOCKEY!! We just lost the championships though
Have you had your toes stepped on by someone wearing soccer shoes yet?
They wont let you man, FIFA says so… sorry to burst your bubble… I was a certified ref for club soccer the last few years… so im not just making stuff up
aoooooooooooo,
wheres yoopers
fifa may say so, but what about ayso, american youth soccer orginazation, either way, my parents probably wouldn’t let me
Yeah, its a bad idea when everyone else is wearing cleats, I can imagine all the imprints in your feet;)
I’ve played soccer for around 8 years now on a rec team. It’s nice playing on a rec team since you don’t travel and you don’t have a bunch of practices a week.
yeah, mine would be a rec team, one practice a week and like 1 er two games, not really sure yet though
Here we are. We’ve been away for the weekend down in Peoria, IL at the River City Classic Soccer Tourney. Very tough on the field and with the weather. 95 degrees and somewhat humid so we baked in the sun the whole weekend. The competition was even hotter with some of the best teams attending over three or four states, not sure exactly how many. I did see some Ohio license plates so it may have been more that I realized. Some 800-900 players over 17 fields. Both our Spectre Soccer Club U-17 team (Ben) and U-13 team (Brad) took third place in the tourney, our best showing ever! Not sure how the girls U-14 team did.
Now we’re home celebrating the rest of Father’s Day with Chinese food and a movie.
soccer when its hot is just not as fun as soccer when its cool. as a keeper… hot is bad, and im not even running around for ninety minutes
yay, yoopers, but what is your opinion on playing barefoot?
do you know of any pros that have ever done it?
From the competitive frame of mind, I think playing barefoot could seriously hamper a players game. We’re not AYSO. We’re out to take our “A” game to the field and win and that usually means using the equipment necessary to give us the best edge possible. If rules allowed and a player was impervious to injury and could put a better game on the field barefoot, then I’m all for it.
As for backyard soccer, it might be kind of fun, only in our yard with two big dogs, it can end up in a squishy between the toes type of feeling.
Blimey! Japan are beating Brazil 1-0!
Go Japan!
Tch! Forget I spoke.
Brazil have just equalised.
I play soccer and i love it
Last year I was on the Rochelle Township High School soccer coaching staff as a volunteer. Just found out today that this year, it looks like I may be hired as the freshman team coach. Sounds like a lot of fun. Can’t wait! I’ll have to up my coaching license though.
Next year, 2007/08, I’ll have Brad at the high school as a freshman and on the team (Ben will be a senior then). Then again, indicators say that Brad will probably be snatched up right away by the varsity team. May I’ll take on the whole soccer program by then. That would be great.
Friday night conditioning starts tomorrow night. We start at the swimming pool doing aqua-aerobics before hitting the practice field.
Back on track with the World Cup discussion, could Ghana go all the way this year? Could be with the way they’re playing…
Doh! Brazil-2 Japan-1.
i didnt know im in the same class as ben, seniors '08!
