Soccer fans only please...

Last night’s game was stunning.
If there’s an early goal in tonight’s Spain/Russia clash, I suspect we could be in for a thriller.
Both teams are full of running and the Russians have nothing to lose, or prove.

Oh, for a satellite dish!

Local TV did not even broadcast Australia Vs China on Sunday :frowning:

the russians have had something to lose, if they had won they would have to play against germany and that would be minimum as interesting as the german/turkey match. but i think we´d have a very loudly town that night with a lot of rioting because of course germany would win and the russians aren´t that peaceable over here…

but now spain won 3:0 against russia and the final will be very boring :D:D:D

germany will win 3:1 XD

VIVA ESPANIA!

What I means with that comment was that the Russians are in a serious building phase for 2010 with Hiddink and getting to the semi’s of Euro2008 was already more than they probably expected.

I’m not so sure about a boring final.
While the German defence is notoriously miserly, they’re not as negative and commited-to-playing-boring-football as the Italians are.
And with the likes of Pudolski and Schweinsteiger, they can attack from anywhere and catch you out with some searing pace.

Spain will miss David Villa and, much as I hate his Arsenal-dwelling self, Cesc Fabregas might well get hte opportunity to shine in his absence.

Like with most games where I am essentially a neutral (apart from my Liverpool affiliations and the fact that my gf is a rabid Germany fan), I’m hoping for a goal in the first 15 minutes and for all hell to break loose after that.

Spain 3-2 Germany.

And please, no dodgy decision to have a major influence on the game, and no penalties.

ok, u think spain will shoot 3 goals…i don´t think so because our keeper is very good. mabye 1 or 2 but not 3

now we´re having a problem our team captain has got an hurt in his leg so we don´t know if he could play this evening :frowning:

but i think alone because of that we gonna win.
we won as löw, our coacher, had to sit on the tribune and wasn´t allowed to talk to the players.
we´ll win if our team captain stays outside the match :D:D:D

I can’t believe it! The EuroSoccer final is on regular TV. I’m skipping out on a part-time job ($40) this afternoon to watch the game.

i can´t watch it, because we haven´t got a tv, but i´m going to listen on the radio…2 minutes and its 20:45 what means: the game starts happy

What a great game so far! If Germany could get a goal in it would be even better. I promised to cheer for the Germans because my son thinks Sergio Ramos looks like an evil pirate :D.

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
how old is your son?

germany makes it, i´m sure

4½.
Now I have to tell him that the pirate won.

Good game.

Spain the deserving winners.

sweet
but you can also tell him that the pirate isn´t a pirate but a very friendly man

Entire second half, Germany couldn’t penetrate worth beans. Spain was in complete control.

The spanish defense deserves more credit than they’ve gotten. Russia and Germany scored lots of goals in their other matches.

Very happy Spain won.
Very happy Torres got the goal.
Very happy that is was a stunning game of football to watch.
Quite often finals can be drab and boring affairs, but last night was proper end-to-end, thrill-a-minute stuff.

A couple of questions about soccer in the US.
I was going to email you but I figured other people might be interested as well.

Before the final last night, I watched a bit of the game between DC and LA Galaxy.
The ameircan commentary is interesting. It’s much more ‘stacato’ and almost aggresive when compared to the more flowing and laid back commentary I’m used to in UK and European football.

Is that the commentary you normally listen to?

There seemed to be quite a bit of singing by the crowd last night.

Is this a feature of American soccer and is it something you see from the junior levels up?

The score indicator on the screen showed LA 1 - DC 2, but the game was played in DC.
I’m used to the UK convention where the home team’s name is shown first so you can immediately tell who the home team is.

Is this simply reversed in the States or do they just go alphabetically or something?

Another soccer season on its way, another pair of soccer cleats (boots) needed. Playing year round, I guess we can’t complain about one pair a year. Besides, kids are expensive, right?

Bought Brad a pair of Adidas (of course, no other brand will do) F30.8 today. He wanted the Predator kangaroo leather boots for $200 but we bought Ben a pair two years ago and they lasted the same. So with as much abuse as the shoes get, we’ll go the cheaper route. We got these on sale with an additional coupon for $70. He’s pretty happy with the purchase.

Interesting to see ADIDAS finally using some other versions of the 30stripes apart from the dead straight ones.

I have never owned a pair of boots with the ‘laces sheath’ do those have actual laces, i cannot tell.
personally, i cannot go past a good old pair of Lotto Stadio

but my favourite of all. Lightest, fastest(and not like school boy red strips fast, griped like something else.), best fitting pair of boots i ever had. Although they are only suitable for ‘skinny’ feet. Vapour:
