Soccer club picnic and Chicago Fire guest

Our soccer club had it’s end of season party tonight (even though we’ve got one more tournament this weekend and a couple games left after that). Lot’s of good eatin’ and swimming and of course pick-up soccer games. Our club is associated with the Chicago Fire Soccer Association and even has a Fire team rep assigned to work with our club. Tonight, Jim Curtin, defender for the Chicago Fire, was our special guest. It was neat to get to know him and hear some of his stories. He is a very personable guy and spent lots of time talking and joking with the kids. It sure was a highlight of the evening for our young players. Unfortunately, he couldn’t play in the pick-up games because he recently suffered a broken bone in his foot during a game against the Kansas City Wizards when he tried to clear a ball against an opposing player, so he was in a walking cast. One of the boys on Brad’s team has a cousin who plays for the K.C. Wizards. All in all a very fun night. We’re going as a team this summer to watch a Fire game. It will be Spectre Soccer Club night and our boys and girls will get to go down on the field at halftime.

It’s late and time for bed.
