Winter is on its way here and I havnt been gettin as pumped as most winters. I would rather be out uni-ing all year but its almost time to get out the old stick and throw on some goggles. Figured Id start up a thread for us to post pictures, thoughts, or just some simple words to help us shredders get amped.
I learned to ski, then learned to snowboard, then finally settled on ski blades.
Was pretty good at snowboarding, could make it down the black diamond courses with ease and control (though, those were PA black diamonds, nothing like they are in Vermont or out West).
I don’t think I hit the slopes at all last winter, but I think I’ll pull out my ski blades and maybe even borrow my friend’s snowboard.
i have skied since 3, than switched to snowboard at 8, and back to skis at 14. i’m not the type of skier who is “anti-snowboarder” i just prefer skis. i want to do bith but i dont have the finacial means right now. i was pretty good at snowboarding, but not park like stuff, mainly just black diamonds and such. and on my skis i love to do the steep mogals, there the best.
PS those are some sweet pics, you look really good!
EDIT: OMG is that Catamount, in those pics?, i live like 20 min from that place. it looks empty, do you work there?
Yup thats Catty. I worked there the year those pictures were takin, I built some of the rails for them. That kinked rail had little to do with me, besides the paint job. I desinged, built, and painted this rainbow:
And yea that place gets pretty quite sometimes, which is always awesome.
Who are you kidding, Cattapult is one of the steepest trails Ive ever been on. For a rinky dink New England mtn. Catamount has got some fun steeps. Great shape to that place.
I can snowboard. I’m not good at it or anything, but I got the technique down after only a couple sessions.
I usually ski though, I like both but I’m waaaay better at skiing. I can’t do much freestyle park stuff or anything but mostly ski black diamonds and occasionally, double blacks. I’ve only skied for a couple years so it’s still fun for me.
I guess we got bigger mountains here in Montana then you got in NE…
yeah but its sooo tiny. and catapult is always soooo icey. have you been to Gore, the double blacks are so much steeper, and it has way better moguls there, but being that catamount is very cheap and close i go there the most. Belleayre(spelling )is quite nice as well.
Whoot for snowboarding (and skiing if you don’t mind me saying so). I do both, but like many others here, I am a much better skiier.
I ski/board on the east coast, but I have been out to the west coast, and let me tell you, a double black diamond around PA…about a double blue around some places (I was at telluride). Once you go out west, you lose the fun of skiing/boarding back home. that happened to me.
im expecting that, but it will still be an awesome experience and i hope to move out there when i’m older anyway, like after i graduate from college. Has anyone been to Jackson Hole, i heard its amazing and caint wait to go.
PS: So is this kinda now the official Snowbaord AND Ski Thread?
yea im hoping 2 hav a good season this year. my goal is to land a 360 thatd b swt, but kinda hard and scary at the same time. ill get it tho. i was prty close last time.
oh yes the winter is the time which is good if you know what i mean. I ski
and since i live in colorado, theres some pretty sweet places to go
