same up here. last year the only time they gave snow days was when the buses’ fuel froze. No foolin’. they cancelled school for a week because of it. up here eight inches is nothing. to actually have a snow day because of snow itself, it’s gotta snow at least two feet. at least.
i had hurricane days when rita came. actually it was a full week. i had great plans to “ride out” the hurricane if you know what i mean. i went to my girlfriends house with two unicycles and all the protective gear i own. i was preparing for 150 mph winds, flying mail boxes, falling trees, death and destruction, chaos, panic, oh what wonderful plans i had. then the damn thing turned north and destroyed east texas instead. it barely rained, the wind hardly snapped any trees, and the wind was no worse than a bad storm. i went out riding during the heaviest part of the storm and it didn’t even knock me off of the unicycle. i stayed out for a long time hoping it would get worse(or better?), but alas it was not meant to be. i finally accepted the depressing situation and went inside around 3am completely uninjured. at least i got a week off of school though, and i got to see some nice panic on the highways as everybody tried to leave town days before the storm hit.
