Or stopping. IUF rules can be seen on the web at http://www.unicycling.org/iuf/
Check out the HTML version for web reading.

RE: slow races

What’s a typical winning time for a 10 m slow race? Are we talking seconds or
minutes? nic

Seconds… but it’s getting close to a minute on some.

Here are the current records: Backward Slow 10 m Male 00:53.63 Schworer, Colin
1998 Unicon IX USA Female 00:30.72 Heimbach, Julia 1996 1996 NUC Germany

Forward Slow 10 m Male 00:44.75 Granberry, Dale 1991 1991 NUM USA Female
00:34.28 Wood, Ashley 1998 1998 NUC USA

I just made a pretty basic page that lists other world records in unicycling on
the IUF page. Check it out at http://www.unicycling.org/iuf/

Re: slow races (and other world records)

Wow, impressive. Can anybody explain why the men’s backwards record is better
thatn the forwards record? Or was it more of a one-off than a regular
occurrence?

I think it’s mostly because Colin Schworer can go slower backward than he can
forward. He did an impressive time in the forward slow last summer too, but not
as good as Dale did back in 91.

But we still need more accurate judging on the slow race. Sarah Miller reported
an interesting method from the Danish Championships (or was it Eurocycle?),
where they used more than one judge for the slow races. I think we should adopt
this method for our own competitions, where at least two judges must agree on a
DQ. This gives riders a more consistent environment in which to compete.
