sleep thread

do you sleep well? how do you sleep? do you fall asleep quick? please share your sleeping techniques and maybe even dreams if ya feel like it. now, i’m tired, i’m goin to bed:o zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

It takes me about two hours to fall asleep, but once i’m out i’m out!

Another interesting thing is if I wake up in the middle of the night I usually can not fall back asleeep, inless I get up to go to the bathroom then I have no problem falling back asleep  .

I usually sleep around 6-7 hours a night…and even though that’s a pretty decent amount, I never really feel fully refreshed. I dunno why, it’s annoying though. I’m tired a lot. :frowning:

I once slept through a fire alarm (thankfully a false alarm) during my college years. There are times that I can sleep through anything (especially my alarm clock). Then other times I hear the alarm and wake up right away.

It takes me about an hour to fall asleep.
Using the average sleep cycle time of an hour and a half I measure it off and set a quiet radio alarm to turn on a classical station when the begininning of my sleep cycle would start, apparently if you are just gently aroused during light sleep you will easily wake up and feel refreshed. But if you are awoken by a buzzer alarm in deep sleep you won’t. So I used to do that. I think it worked, it might have just been a placebo effect though.
I should start doing it again though.

Sounds like an interesting method…I’ll have to try that sometime during the break. Cause I never feel refreshed when woken up from a buzzer alarm.

Someone needs to make an alarm that monitors your sleep cycle and only turns on the buzzer when you’ve come out of a deep sleep cycle. That way the alarm goes off when you’re most receptive to it and ready to wake up.

Right now I’ve got a CD player and a light on a timer. The timer turns on the CD player and a light. No snooze button. That combination seems to work well. The music (Beatles currently) and the light is a nicer way to wake up than a buzzer and repeated snoozes.

Oh, I forgot. My light alarm goes off a lot earlier than normal, in some cases an hour and a half. I always feel much better when I get up by the light alarm anyways. Then a heavy alarm goes off when I need to be up.

Anyone heard of that sleeping method of going to sleep every hour for 20 minutes, all day? Does that actually work? It has a name, but it escapes me at the moment.

I’ve been taking an over the counter sleep aid to help me fall asleep for years and years! I also need earplugs, and I sleep on my side with an extra pillow over my exposed ear! I also need a pitch black room so I use blackout material on my windows! Yeah, I know. But all this results in a solid 8-9 hours of restful, REM sleep, which I need since I have the same energy and hyperactivity I did at 10 years old!:o

Oh yeah, I also MUST have “white noise” to drown out any extraneious sounds from outside. My FM radio has this feature and it’s on for the duration of my sleep cycle.

I’m not very good at sleeping, and I don’t like sleeping anyway.

i love to sleep. i can fall asleep anywhere(in class, locker room before practice, on the kitchen floor etc…) and in very little time

I envy you!

it takes me about an hour to fall asleep, i listen to loveline:D while im trying to go to sleep, and i have 2 alarms, one is a clock, the other is on my phone

i also can sleep through people talking and other such noise, but my alarm clock wakes me right up. The only time i still feel groggy is if i:
A) am getting up at 5 for morning practice
B) Get woken up while dreaming

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

ME TOO!!!
i was looking up online how to sleep better the other day. it said to eat something with cheese in it or somethin like that. then it said to lay yourself down in a comfy position. then take deeeeeeep breaths, this will relax your heart and help you sleep(excess oxygen makes u sleepy). next take normal sized, slow breaths. count your breaths as you breathe. you can also be thinking in with the tired, out with the awake. one time when i did this, i fell asleep before i could count to 30!
also, another time i was dreamin about bein in FL before i moved there. i was on the beach talkin to my bud and all the sudden i hear a faint beeping. i wondered “what’s that noise?” after about 30 seconds of this i woke up and found out it was my alarm clock! DO’H!!!

I think it’s called “You’re fired!”

It’s called polyphasic sleep. I don’t know if it really works, but you only sleep for 20 to 30 minutes every four hours – for a total of 2 to 3 hours of sleep (and a whopping 21 to 22 hours of waking state). Steve Pavlina tried it and blogged daily about his experiences.

I LOVE sleeping!! I seriously love it more then music and unicycling combined!! I try to savor every SECOND of it!! It takes me about an hour to get to sleep and an hour to get up but those are my favorite parts! Especially when you’re half dreaming and half thinking and all warm in your blankets and stuff.

I like sleeping in different places too. I’ve slept in literally every room in my house and almost everywhere on our 10 acre property. I also like sleeping in cars and I judge hotels on how good their beds are.

But my favorite kind of sleep is on a train!! It’s so amazing, especially in first class (a luxury for me but I get to do it on occasion). It’s so comfortable, rushing down the railway at 80 MPH gently rocking back and forth… Ahhh!!!

I fall asleep pretty quick sometimes, other times it take a little bit longer, other times it takes hours, and other times I dont go to sleep at all.

Sometimes I sleep for a few mins, a few hours, a regular 8-9 hours, or sometimes around 12-14 hours.

Most of the time I wake up when anything happens to my room or me. If my door opens, I wake up, someone says something to me, and ill be up. I am a very light sleeper, unless its my mom or girlfriend coming into my room. Probably because im used to them coming in and I am more comfortable with them than I with a few friends coming over, knocking on my window and walking into my room.

I sleep great though, very peaceful and refreshing.

I can also sleep anywhere and on anything. I can sleep on a concrete floor comfortably, car seats, friends couches or floors, anywhere where there is enough room for sleep, I wont mind sleeping there.

Hmm, my dreams are weird, and very scattered. I have had some reoccurring dreams for at least 10 years now, and those ones are cool, cause ive gotten to the point of knowing the dream very well, and controlling what I do in the dream. Other dreams are pretty bad, not scary monster stuff, but more like dreaming of losing someone close to me, and more drama life changing stuff that I dont want to happen.

Yeah, my sleeping pattern is weird, if you can even call it a pattern. Stay up the whole night and up to 6am the next morning, sleep till 5am, be up the next morning till 8am, wake up around 9am, go to bed that night around midnight. Yeah, it works.
