I have been gone for a while and I have gotten really big into slacklining.
It is one of the coolest things i have found to do since unicycling.
Anyone else slack?

What the hell is slacking?
so does anyone do it?
HE LIVES!
on topic: I’ve always found it interesting, but never really found out how to get into it.
haha yup. i live. have you missed me?
its very inexpensive compared to unicycling and all the needs it requires.
i really love it. its a pretty chill sport and is alot of fun.
my whole line, which is relativly long cost me about 150.
isnt it sorta like tight rope walking? just cheaper…or have i just lost it agen?
haha i dont know why it would be cheaper…
why dont you guys look up some videos on youtube…
i slack, well kinda. i’ve kind of taken a break from it for a while, but it’s a lot of fun. i’m pretty good. i can juggle while on the line and do some bouncing and tuning tricks (jump on the air, spin 360, land back on the line) that kinda thing.
it’s a lot of fun, i actually just came back inside from slacklining when i discovered this thread. lol
i JUST started and still learning and can pretty much just walk the line and do jump 180…
How would one go about learning this…? Do you have to build or buy or what? Where do you start? Looks interesting…
well you should start with around 50 feet of 1 inch wide climbing webbing…(i started with 75 and its a bit overkill) and 5 carabiners.
ill make an instructional video for anyone who wants to know how to set it up.
I slackline, been out of it for a while, but I can jump on, 180, walk the line, 360, and surf to the extreme, I can also lay down on the line and get back up. I don’t have my own line but I use random chains and ropes and stuff around town sometimes and I use friends lines a lot.
I’ve got a line, but i haven’t really gotten into it. Might take it for a spin later and see if i can still walk on it.
I bought a 100’ line last year for about $36. (glad I bought it when I did cuz I bet the price is waaay higher now with rising oil prices) I haven’t taken it out yet though cuz I only have 4 carabiners. I have to remember to buy one next time I’m at REI.
you can set a up a friction line with 3.
I just watched some vids on youtube… i do not think i would like to attempt one higher than knee height… i fear for my boys;)
I slackline, I actualy bought a slackline kit not so long ago. I would have made my own but I couldn’t find any shops selling the stuff I needed. So far I can pretty much walk the line jump a bit but thats realy about it. It is realy fun, I would love to attempt riding a unicycle over it
The only bad thing is that I don’t use it as much as I would like to because of the time/effort required to put it up. It’s not worth putting up if your only gonna use it for like 10 miniutes.
I was afraid of that at first but it is realy easy to avoid. When ever you know your gonna fall you just kinda use the bounce of the line to jump away from it. I think it would be fairly hard to land feet both sides of the line and hurt yourself like that. The worst I’ve managed is missing the line with one foot and falling on my back. But luckily I caught the line which lessened the impact.
ya. i am getting better and dont do that as much but its alot eisier to learn than unicycling. practice for 2 hours and you got it.
I was pretty much able to do everything I mentioned within a week of practice, although I learned most of it on a chain which is WAY different than on webbing, there’s no spring in chain and the way chain kinda rolls around under your foot makes it pretty hard but I like it. this thread makes me want to go back out and get me my own webbing, I’ve got 2 useable carabiners right now.
