i think unispins are a challenging thing to learn, and alot of fun. do make sure u have adequate leg protection tho or its not even worth trying to learn unless you’ve got a leg death wish!
SEE THAT BUTTON AT THE LEFT THAT SAYS CAPS LOCK? PUSH IT.
That’s better. Okay, U-Turn probably gave you more than enough to be kept busy forever. Are you into trials, freestyle, street, or MUni? Or something else that I am not aware of? Everything that has been mentioned so far is mostly freestyle. And there isn’t much you can practice with in MUni.
Sigh…
The most replies thread continues to be a pestilence upon our great community here.
I like working on variations of one foot riding. Work on one foot extended. With one foot extended you keep your free leg straight – not bent at the knee. Practice one foot extended with your leg to the front, to the side, and to the rear. Then also work on riding in circles with your foot extended. You can do the one foot extended on a freestyle uni, trials uni, or muni. Also work on idling one foot extended.
Another one foot variation is to put your free foot up on your other knee, kind of like you’re crossing your legs. You can practice idling like that or riding like that.
An interesting one foot variation on a freestyle unicycle is to ride one footed with your left foot and put your right foot on top of your left foot. You can’t do this on a trials uni or a muni because the wheel gets in the way when you cross your right leg over.
Everything freestyle is MUni and trials. Especially one-footed, like John says.
Whew! Yes, there’s lots. Hops in all directions, with good and bad foot forwards, rolling curbs, rolling drops, stairs, SIF hops (“jumps”), long series of hops in each direction, uphill, downhill, 90/180/270/360 hops, idling in rocky terrain, etc etc etc. You don’t need a mountain to improve at Mountain Unicycling.
yeah id rather practice MUni or trials than freestyle. Only there arent any rough areas around me. theres not too much wilderness in this city of 2 million.
I do! But only when the trail is smooth and level and easy.
One foot riding improves your balance and pedal control. It’s a fun skill and it does improve your riding. Freestyle skills that improve your balance or control are good to learn and will help make you a better muni rider, trials rider, Coker rider, or whatever.
Indeed. They are little girly steps, but there are soooo many of them. I hopped them all once, then died. After being resurrected I decided never to hop them all at once again. They are fun to ride down though. You get great looks if you sing the rocky theme while doing it.
