Skateboarding

Well…this is a thread to discuss all the aspects of skateboarding. I’ll start by asking whats your setup/s?

Landy DH proto. Maple and Carbon Fibre. With RII’s and Flywheels. Green Stims front and rear. Bones Reds all round.

…and, if none of this makes sense to you, then you’re not a hard core longboarder, that’s all!

nice, im rocking reds too, theyre about 2 years old. I skate street though.

Well gee, i forgot to post my setup!

Deck: Speed Demon red checker board (:()
Wheels: 52 Rictas
Bearings: Reds!!!
Trucks: Royals
Hardware: Project 1
Tape: Iron horse

#2
Deck: Powell Mini Logo
Wheels: 52 Rictas
Bearings: REDS!!
Trucks: Thunder Templeton
Hardware: Shorty’s
Tape: Jessup

Is this some sort of new extreme sport?
I can’t see it catching on.

1x8 wooden plank from Home Depot
metal roller skates nailed to the bottom
house paint mixed with sand on top for traction

I want my dog Gala to learn to skateboard. I’ve seen the video of the pug, but Gala is 40 pounds, long-legged, slim, with a higher center of gravity.

I’m thinking she’ll need a WIDE board, do you agree?

Any suggestions on teaching her?

Any suggestions on type of board for her?

baker green deck(best deck I’ve ever used btw for street)

Destructo raw railkillers (sweetness)

FKD abec 7s (pretty good, but I like bones swiss and black panthers more)

spitfire 53s (great wheels!)

Mob grip

A pool board probably. Like a powell or creature deck. You might not want grip tape( for a dog it would be like standing on sandpaper)

I don’t have a board right now but here was my last setup
Deck: Baker Greco
Wheels: Rictas
Bearings: Reds
Trucks: Destructo
Hardware: Lucky
Tape: Jessup

Oh, you bad girl! I’ve got a Demonseed with Crails, Blue and Red Khiro Barrels, Rocknron’s Rockets and grade 8 hardware all around as my DH board. My Roe Carbon Fibre slalom board got ran over by my brother’s school bus. Search the Fish to read more on it. My Lush Mako with RII 180s and Flashbacks is still alive and well, though. Stupid wet pavement…I haven’t ridden in SOOOO long!

Bog standard Snakeboard USA Stiffy…er… did I just see all my credibility in this thread disappear?

Nao

Soounds helpful. I’ll look into it. Thanks!

hmm
I havn’t ridden in a long time, but my old setup is this

CCS slick (turquoise)
Grind King something or other trucks
cheap wheels
black panther bearings
lucky risers/hardware
some awesome grip that never EVER wore at all even when wet and left in the rain, i treated my board like a piece of crap and it took it
then somebody stole it.

I’d get one of those old school boards. with the tail and the nose really distinguished. They are really wide. Grip tape is needed. You should watch the episode of Rob and Big where they try to teach their dog to ride.

Yeah. Her feet go on pavement for miles. I’m sure they can tolerate grip tape and it’ll help her stay on.

Got it! Thanks!

skateboard aye

My deck’s too messed up to tell what brand it is. Generic grip. Some bearings, some hardware, GK trucks, some wheels, no risers…if you really skate you don’t care what you’ve got cause it’s all trashed in a month or less anyways.

B.S. different boards have different qualites, no one cares about looks, its about concave pop and durability, that really affects how you ride.

I used to love to skate, and recently I have been thinking about taking it up again if not for anything other than pool riding.

I have been riding this deck since ummmm 200-03 I think and stopped skating in 2004. Its pretty sweet and at the time and probably still now it is my all time dream board. The only thing I might switch now are the wheels because the only thing I’m really interested in now is cruising and so hard wheels are pretty lame.

I have a skullskates hardcore deck (this was discontinued a year or so ago) which is pretty similar to this deck http://skullskates.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/1_40/products_id/246 only it is 9 and three quarters inches wide and thirty one inches long, plus it has a longer nose and it has about the same amount of concave as a normal deck plus the tail is completely flat.

Then I have some really wide ten inch independents on there, some Top of the World wheels (Top is a skateshop in Ottawa). I think I have some black panthers in their but I don’t really know, I have gone through alot of bearings and I know I have owned at least a few sets of panthers, speedpig I think they are called, and a few other brands. They are all pretty much the same thing, probably all made by the same company in Taiwan then renamed. Actualy the best set I ever owned were some abec 5 no name bearings I bought in Florida, they lasted a really really long time.

I loved the fact too that I could do lots of street stuff on it but nobody else could. I wasn’t that great but I can still kick and heel flip it no problem and I can still sex change and varial flip it on occasion which is pretty good since I havnt ridden in two years.

I love this board, if something were to happen to it I would be rather sad.
