Singlespeed-a-Palooza Race April NEWBURGH, NY, US (each year)

That sucks. You will be missed.

Thanks Buzz. Maybe next year.

Spot available

Anyone interested in doing this race?

Since there is no uni interest in this spot, I will turn it over to the bikers.

Sorry not to get to race you again.

Bummer Claude, looks like I may be the only one carrying the 36er torch, all the way to the podium hopefully :stuck_out_tongue: See you in Douthat though!

James, I’ll probably be carrying the 36er torch with you, though I think you’re more likely to carry it to the podium.

Cooool! We’ll both likely be chasing Roland to the podium! Here’s to no cramping, no crashing and no flats!

…and I be hot on your heels…

Turns out I wasn’t really “hot on your heels”, JTurner!

Todays Singlespeed-a-palooza 2014 was a great time.
Results posted here. We’re sort of near the end of the list, with Roland taking first in 3:09.

Eleven unis entered race - a new record.

One of the hardest rides of my life.

What a killer way to really start my muni season.

If interested, I blog posted here.

That’s a great blog post thanks.

I’m envious! This sentence alone in your blog stood out to me: “George, the event coordinator, was really excited to have us there.” For some reason I had an image of a jolly fat guy going THE UNICYCLISTS ARE COMING! And all you guys riding over the horizon in perfect formation. After reading some posts on here about event organisers not wanting 1-wheelers in, it’s nice to see them being so happy about you guys racing :sunglasses:

Great race everyone! Felt awesome to finish this year!

Excellent job folks!

Nice write up Buzz. Glad to hear the knees didn’t give you problems.

Great write up MuniOrBust
Thanks for sharing.

Singlespeed-a-Palooza 2015

George, the race organizer for the Singlespeed-a-Palooza is making plans for 2015!

Remember last year the uni class started an hour before the two-wheelers so we could finish the 24 miles without holding up the awards and festivities.
This year George is proposing a different plan:

Any feedback?

How likely are you to go?

I’ll start…
I’m cool with the 24 miles. It pushes me plenty. Last year 5 of the 11 riders didn’t finish and may want redemption. Come and get it!
I also think starting with the two-wheelers is cool and means the race coordinators, marshals, medics, etc don’t have to be ready an hour early just for us.

I am very likely going.

I’m tentative - big race the next weekend. If I do it, the 24 w/same start-time sounds great.

I’m a definite maybe, but may get peer pressured into a yes.

I like the idea of starting with the bikes; it gives us the chance to pick off stragglers

24 miles was enough for me.

In agreement, def maybe
24 miles plenty on that terrain and ya, I’d like to redeem, stay on coarse and finish without dilerium. Lol
