“She” is Jacquie Dillard, my new fiance. We made proposals to each other last
night. No concrete plans are made yet, other than me moving into her house.
She hopes to learn to ride someday, but it’s not a priority for her. She has a
brand new Miyata Standard which was won as a door prize at NUC, but she has made
it clear that she doesn’t know if she’ll be into it.
I have to learn ASL (American Sign Language). I may not be into it either, but
I’ll need it to talk to her friends and relatives, many of whom are deaf. Or
just to know what all of them are saying to each other in front of me!
…Don’t worry though, folks, I’ll still be around! In Carmichael, CA. Come and
see the “unicycle room” when it’s completed!

Congratulations, hope you both have fun, if ASL is like BSL its not too hard to
learn, just keep practising. Over here in Yorkshire we sign unicycle like so
raise first finger of right hand (one) then drop it to the left and rotate hand
and finger ( like twidleing your thumb) , this sign started out with the twidle
bit useing both hands extended first finger it got simplified as people started
to use it more, the finger twidle is a variation on the BSL sign for cycle.
Sign is great for talking through windows and big simple sign is handy on the
muni trail to avoid shouting left/ right/ waitup / water and the like.

Okay, here's the deal. She learns to uni, and you learn sign language. Done
deal... 'nuff said. <g>

Hmm, my wife is still resisting (“not in a million years”), and has been for the
last ten years or so.
None the less, congratulations to the happy couple.
