Shaving knobs off of DH tires?

I am trying to find a tire to ride in the gym with. I was just a Darren Bedfords and he has a IRC Cujo 24x3 DH tire that I was thinking of shaving the knobs off of. Anyone tried this before? Of course there is no guarantee that this will not mark up the floor either but maybe one of you have tried this rather time consuming idea. I am aiming to get the same bounce and feel that I currently get from my Gazz.

Shabby.

White wall tires are ground with special abrasive wheels. You might try
using an angle grinder (see link below) with a fixture to keep it at a
constant position and turn the wheel.

If you haven’t used one of these, get someone who has handled them to do
this for you.

Of course, it might generate smoke, black dust, and horrible smells. But
what better way to create something?

Pictures, please.

This is the cheapest angle grinder I could find. It won’t survive much use.
There are many more out there that are much higher quality:

Re: Shaving knobs off of DH tires?

Sorry, the multiple posts were due to my own ineptitude.

As Bugs Bunny sez: “What a moroon!”

I run a stout and I changed the profile of all the side knobs with an exacto knife. It needs to be sharp.
A small belt sander will do the same thing.

I am fairly certain that the Kujo will still mark without the knobs. I say this because the knobs are not the only part of the tire made of soft rubber, the outside of the casing is also made of the soft rubber. Because it is soft rubber that marks, not just knobs, your knobless tire will still mark, and be virtually useless for any other riding.

Of course, iv been known to be wrong.
