Seat weights

Hi all,
Recently I have become very curious in different component weights and
ways (or weighs :-D) to lighten my muni.

First: how much does the Viscount saddle (w/o seat post) weigh in lbs.?
At Bronson’s webshots page the miyata/carbon fiber/leather cover is
listed at 1.74 lbs. so I won’t ask for that.

Second: how much should seat tube overlap the seat post? Currently I have
a 300mm post but almost 6" of it is hidden by the seat tube. I’m guessing
I could safely lose 3" of the post.

Oh no! Re-reading my questions I realize the weight weenie bug has bit
me!

Jeff

Re: Seat weights

By removing the tyre, tube, rim, spokes, hub, bearings, bearing holders,
frame, clamp, seatpost, seat and brakes, I have managed to get a unicycle
that weighs absolutely nothing. Cool hey?

Wayne.

Don’t be daft - how could it possibly work without pedals and cranks?

Viscount seat

The unmodified Viscount seat (incl. bumpers, bumper screws, attachment bolts and nuts) weighs in at 987g (34.81 oz).
