Seat post question

I will be ordering a new muni early next week and I am trying to decide on a seat post length. I tested out a 24" gazz, on a 26" frame with a 300mm seat post and 170mm cranks. With the seat post lowered until the bottom was flush with the bottom of the frame my legs were almost locked. This seemed like an optimal hieght for long distance but I would want it lower for trials/tough muni. If I were to purchase a 200mm seat post would I be able to raise it to that height (or close I will have an air seat as well giving me and extra 30mm or so)? I think if it was possible to raise it such that would be best so I could lower the seat for trials.

Thoughts, advice, opinions?

Go big.you can always cut it down,if you can find strong enough scissors.

Get the post longer than you’ll need. You can cut it down to a personalized length using a hacksaw or pipe cutter. The pipe cutter is easier to get a smooth cut with. You’ll need to sand or file down the rough edges or lip after you cut it.

Re: Seat post question

I made the mistake of getting a seatpost that was just a hair too short when
I bought my first unicycle in 1997. DEFINITELY go with the longer one! In
just a couple of minutes you can cut it down to just the right size if
needed.

Thought: 100mm is roughly 4 inches
Advice: Don’t raise a seatpost that much
Opinion: Get the 300mm seatpost and maybe shorter cranks

Seat post question

Oh, but I’m “mean” …

I never deliberately made fun of/misspelled anyone’s real name on this forum!

trialzSpanker, why don’t you go back to lurking like you promised?

I’ll bet John’s glad he unsubscribed now that there are members on here calling him a “fossil”.

Re: Seat post question

apology accepted.

Seat post question

Characteristically, trialzSpanker, you once again mis-typed.

If you won’t return to lurking, at least try looking at the keys while you type. OK? Think you can manage that? Don’t fall down, now! Whooops! Steady, now… Left pinkie on “A”… Right pinkie on “;”… Left pointer finger on “F”… Right pointer finger on “J”… There! You’ve got the “HOME” keys!

Now, … Left pinkie on “Ctrl”… at the same time… Left middle finger… that’s right… the one you pick your nose with… on “Alt”… and Right pinkie on “Del”… Yep! It’s W A Y over there on the right… Ah!..
