Ok, I can do seat-in-front extended, holding onto the seat with very little
pressure. So now I’m moving onto seat drag - the best I’ve managed is pedaling
for one and a half revolutions with the seat dragging on the floor (yay!). I
have noticed that I usually drop the seat at the point my pedals will be level.
Is that the best spot?
When I first started trying this, I would jump off the uni before the seat even
hit the floor. Luckily I have broken myself of that and quite often I can get a
revolution before I lose control. Once in a great while I can get just a little
bit more. (I’m hoping to catch up to my sister soon, whose record is TWO
revolutions!)
Tips I’ve gotten so far (from Gilby) are to keep your back straight, your
knees bent and your legs stiff. Oh, and don’t drop the seat until you have a
nice smooth stable seat-in-front-extended going. Any other tips? just
practice, huh?

Though I can’t be considered an expert at either, I’d recommend riding an
ultimate wheel if you have one lying around. It’s not exactly the same thing,
but very close. Or, if you like frustration, take the frame off a regular
unicycle and try riding that. It’s the same as an ultimate wheel, but with the
pedals a lot further from the centerline, making it a lot harder.

One good way to learn ultimate that I think George Peck also used is to string
a couple of ropes up in a garage, and hang onto those above your head while
riding along.

The ones for the US are in a box in my living room! They should be on their
way soon. The ones for the UK just need me to get my act together and put them
on the site.
They will come in form of a relatively inexpensive kit that anyone should be
able to cobble together.

ps I learnt to ride the prototype at the Durham club last Tuesday in only 15
mins I am well chuffed!
