Seat height??

Hello there folks… I have just been given a unicycle and am trying to learn…
Does anybody have any suggestions for seat height ratio thang!!! (I’m 6’2")

Any tips would be great.

Re: Seat height??

John Childs just posted a more descriptive bit of info, which might be useful.

I just adjust the seat such that my leg is just slightly bent when the pedal is
in the all-the-way down position.

I’m about 6’ tall, and require a 400mm seat post on my 20" semcycle.

On my 24" schwinn, I also have a 400mm, though, I think I could get by on a
300mm on its highest setting.

So, if the cycle was given to you, there’s a good bet the seat post is
too short.

It’s entirely possible to ride with the seat too short
http://lutkus.org/juggle/photos/jeff_little_uni.jpg (my favorite example) it’s
just a lot easier if the seat is at the proper height for you, especially if
you’re learning.

Most people have their seats way to low. The proper height is to have it where
when you put the heal of your foot on the pedal your leg should be fully
extended. Then when you ride on the heal of your foot it extends just the right
amount. Also, a rough gage of seat height is to have it the same height to your
belly button.
