i think there should be a sticky thread (im not sure if thats a good name for it, but a thread that always stays at the top) in RSU telling people to search before posting. lately i have been really turned off the forum because i have to filter through so many repetitive threads before finding something interesting. i am sure this has been talked about before, but i want to bring it up again (i actually did try a search to find this topic before posting :slight_smile: )

i dont know if you guys feel the same way, but it seems that on the first page there is always a post about:

wheelwalking
rolling hops
pedal grabs
a picture of that one wheeled motorcycle
gliding/coasting

plus, since people tire of giving the same advice/info every week on every subject, it would help the new people to know that there is more info accessible through the search function.

I don’t find the search very helpful alot of the time.As always find I am having a different problem.It’s true though it’s sooooo annoying that you have the same post over and over and over and over!I never reply to them anymore i just can’t be bothered as they normally have help which is beta then the help i can offer anyway!

The search is only useful if you know the name of the thread you’re looking for. Fortunately sometimes people write their problem in the subject.

I’m guilty of this offense. Sorry.

or posts titled something just like “urgent help needed”… rather make me ingnore the post.

the search function, like a few others, doesnt work for me at all. It gets as far as loading the blue screen, and then it just hangs… I don’t know if anyone else has the same problem? It also happens when someone posts a link to an old thread, they usually wont load.

I’m going to sunny exeter in about half an hour, so yet another week with no unicycle and no forums :frowning:

You should have searched the forum before posting this. I think there was a thread on this topic a while ago.

Depends on your search-string and if the tables of the database (and the middleware) are optimized.

When your query is “unicycle” I can asume the blue screen appears to hang.
But a search like “Marmite” will go a lot faster.

true, but a search can bring up very old info, it’s nice to get a modern response to a question

And replying to a thread discovered in a search revives old garbage that none of the posters care about anymore, and have probably changed their minds on their answers

The advanced google search function works much better. It gives the option of specifying the group and more ways to hone your search. It also provides the option to sort by date so that the most recent threads are display first.

I often search google this way and then if I want to use a particular thread to respond to, use words found in that thread to search here and then reply.

btw. did you guys also notice how many “Hey listen to the stupid things people tell me when I’m unicycling threads” there are? Sure it’s funny but there must be like a million of them!
