Scamcast Cable and SciFi

http://www.scifi.com/feedback/

I sent SciFi a Email.
(to let them know they lost viewers and that they are involved in such activities)

Such strongarm tactics should be illegal.

Darn, then I guess you missed this morning’s episode of Buck Rodgers of the 25th century.

I just got a call from Verizon Wireless in a similar vein. They have eliminated the plan we’re on. We’ve been paying for 400 shared minutes, way more than we use, and now 700 is the fewest minutes we can opt for.

The part that pissed me off is that the service rep said I would need to switch but didn’t tell me that I don’t have to switch until my contract is up this coming February. Since I asked, of course she did provide that information.

But, of course, I wouldn’t be able to find out while shopping if my family wants rye bread with or without caraway seeds if we didn’t have the cell phones.

I feel your pain though, Dave. We did the enforced switch to digital cable last year.

Anyone else see the irony here? Digital Dave:D

Hehe … yea…

That’s why I sent my Email to SciFi under a different Email addy :stuck_out_tongue:

But, none the less … my mother can’t afford anymore $$$.
I told her a gave up cable 5 years ago.
But, she spends alot of time at home, so she wants it.

What’s interesting is that SciFi was a basic service.
(Cuz, my mom cancelled HBO due to its desire to gain profits from PrOn) So, she ordered basic.

So, SciFi is now a PREMUIM programming … what a shame.

Dear Noid,

We appreciate your loyalty to the channel and our shows.
It was Comcast’s decision, not SCI FI’s, to move the network form their
Standard Cable package to their Digital Classic package in Chicago,
requiring loyal SCI FI customers to pay more to watch the network. We
absolutely want SCI FI to be on every basic analog package in Chicago
,
as is the case in the majority of the country. Comcast made the decision
to move SCI FI and to replace it with their own niche network, The Golf
Channel.

If you are in the Chicago area and would like to comment on Comcast
Cable’s recent decision to move SCI FI from your Standard Cable package
to Digital Classic, please call 1-800-Comcast or go to Comcast.com.
Thank you for your continued support of SCI FI.

Sincerely,

SCIFI.COM Staff

Subject: Are you getting a kickback for this …?

I have attached an image of what comcast is broadcasting on you channel in the entire Chicago area.

You have temporarily lost a million viewers …

Well, two viewers in Evanston anyway …

This news is circulating fast … I hope you enjoy your loss in viewer base, and enjoy the reap in Digital profits.

I don’t know the exact date, but in a few years the FCC is requiring that all broadcast TV be digital. The analog airwaves will be empty and everyone who hasn’t will have to upgrade their TVs. I don’t know if this has anything to do with cable broadcasting, but I think the cable companies plan to be all digital before the FCC broadcast deadline.

All of this is separate from the whole HD thing…
