Sunday the SARs group finally got a transfusion of initiative from Noli Ergas in Japan who shamed us into going on a ride. Preston organized a small group for an urban Coker ride (meaning 3 Cokers, Bruce Dawson on Abram Clark’s geared Penguin giraffe, and Jeff Sloan on a Schlumpf 29) around Seattle. We took along flat George, flat Irene, and flat GILD but I don’t remember if we photographed any of their antics. We covered areas we had ridden in the past.
There is one remarkable event well worth reporting. On Sunday’s on this route we pass the Fremont Farmer’s Market. Busking outside the market area were two musicians, one playing a saxophone accompanied by one playing a tuba. We passed these musicians twice, once as we began our route and several hours later at the end. As we rode by them on both occasions they segued perfectly from the piece they were playing into Julius Fucik’s Entry of the Gladiators. Although the circus tune is a familiar insult to unicyclists they did the transition so seamlessly that we had to stop and drop change into their jar.
My apologies to the unicycling community. Were you there you would have understood how impressive this was.
