Santa Cruz Circus Festival

The First American Circus Festival here in Santa Cruz, California got off to
a great start tonight. There were 3 acts that included unicycling:

Dan Heaton did a great job - he blew the audience away with huge gaps,
drops, drops with 360, leaping over 3 people, unispins etc. He told me they
only stacked the boxes he leaped off 3 high tonight to make sure nothing
breaks for tomorrow (3 boxes was 7’ or so). Tomorrow it will be higher.
Peter Adney did his slackrope act which includes juggling 3 knives on a
unicycle on the slackrope - amazing!
The great Frank Olivier did a juggling act that included 3 torches on a 6’
giraffe and maniacal comedy. He got the standing ovation.
There were lots of other great acts - this show would appeal to just about
anyone I think. If you’re in the area tomorrow, it’s on again at 8pm at
Porter College, UCSC.

Also free workshops all day Saturday and Sunday.

Could someone PLEASE take some photos and videos?

Thanks,
Andrew

Re: Santa Cruz Circus Festival

The show is being professionally videotaped, but audience members aren’t
allowed to take video and especially not flash pictures - that could be
deadly to the performers. Sorry about that.

No worries, you’ll just have to describe it to me.

Re: Santa Cruz Circus Festival

Dan pulled off an 8’ drop (maybe 9’ - his head was just about hitting the
light WAY above the stage) onto the flat, hard stage last night - made it
look effortless. The crowd went berserk. The video guys were all over last
night instead of just shooting from the back. I’ll try to get footage of
just Dan’s act from last night and post it - will take a couple of weeks I’d
guess.
