Sanding down the sides of a DX32 rim?

My rim has been buckled for quite a while and the brakes have worn the powder coat off in places. I’m thinking about sanding down the rest of the sides. I’m just wondering if it will do any damage (rust) even though the rest which is already worn hasn’t rusted. Also just out of curiosity will it make breaking any better?

Sand away. You will improve your braking feel by having a more consistent braking surface and the rim will look better with a nice shinny sidewall instead of mostly worn off pain everywhere.

It will not rust, the rim is aluminum.

aah cool, just the news I wanted to hear!
Yeah thats exactly why I first thought of sanding it, so it looked cool.

Thanks Eric!
