I admit I’ve been stalking UDC lately for the new KHs to come in stock. I check tonight and there’s a whole bunch of new stuff. Oracle 27.5, Oracle 32, Hatchet and new KHs in stock.
But why is the Zero not on the KHs? It says in the description it comes with the Freeride saddle (not pictured). What gives?
I wonder if it’s because out of the box the Fusion Freeride is a lot more comfortable to most people(from what I’ve read in several threads)while the Zero takes several long rides and a handlebar to really be appreciated. I ride longer xc muni rides on my Zero and love it but if I did mostly shorter very technical rides I’d most likely choice the Freeride. Hopefully in the future there will be a saddle option, especially on the bigger wheels.
Odd though that kh site says zero comes with it. I was interested in trying one. Freeride is way to wide and cushy for me. I have fusion street on all my cycles. I’ll have to call them and see what they can do. I wonder how many experienced cyclists get the zero and give up on them after giving them a fair shake.
I have noticed quite a few people in this forum have got rid of them when buying the KH unicycles… I do like the Zero saddle myself though. I have it on my 36 and is great (wouldn’t want to come back to the Gel saddle it had originally on ). It is an acquired taste though. Don’t have a Zero in my 26 Muni so I don’t know what it is like in that situation: when I do Muni I get off the saddle quite often so it doesn’t bother me the standard banana shape saddle but if I was to do longer rides without stopping (XC) I would consider having the Zero saddle (thinking in getting a 29’ in the future so I would like to have a Zero in that one…)
Spoke to Josh at UDC at length. Apparently in the pressure to get out the new stock on the site, some of the specs aren’t quite right. Eg, KH26 no longer comes with the Knard at UDC. They can’t get the tires in stock for Nimbus and KH so it comes with a Duro3.0.
Zero seats are being redesigned, so for now they are coming with Freeride. I asked specifically for a Street, because Freerides for me are too wide and cushy.
