Saddle in front riding

I was just wondering how do you actually ride while holding the seat in
front of you? Do you start like that, or do you go into it from the normal
riding position? I’m also interested in similar info on riding with the seat
on the stomach.

Thanks in advance,

Re: Saddle in front riding

You start from riding. Do the transition slowly and on stages. Push the seat
forward, if you start losing balance, regain it before you push the seat
further. Keep going like that until is on front.

At first, the seat will be in front, but touching your body. Ride like that
until you master it. After you master it, try spacing the seat in front away
from your body so that the seat does not touch your body (only your hand).

You will then also want to learn how to return to your seat, so that you don’t
end the skill having to dismount.

Try getting back on stages. Your pants cannot be baggy. Put your seat as far in
as you can without losing balance. Once you do lose your balance, but before you
fall, leave your seat where it is and concentrate on re-gaining your balance.
Repeat this until you are back into the regular riding position.

There are pages devoted to both of these skills on the unicycling home page. Go
the FAQ under the page, go to the 10 skill level section, then pick the skills
you are interested in.
