Well because, to be good at it you have to be addicted IMO. And that means you don’t do anything other than playing it. Which was what I did for nearly 2 years before I started unicycling and got a life :o .

I consider my account pretty good, but I was never addicted to it. Played it a lot during my freetime, but as soon a someone wanted to hang out, RS would be closed don, and id be out having fun or if I wanted to do something myself, id close it down and go out for a ride or something.
Its always has just been a game to me.
Cause you played and were addicted, doesnt mean all of us will be addicted too. A lot of players have higher priorities and dont let games get in the way.
But I know what you mean. Dont let it become more than it should.
I used to play but wasn’t very good at doing missions and stuff.
I’d go in the middle of the town and start dancing saying, “Dancing for donations!”. Sometimes rich guys would come and give me 10k or so.
haha wow I saw this thread and all the sudden felt guilt come over me. I used to play for two years and it completely consumed my life. I used to pk and do about whatever. Slayer was my thing. I sold my account for 100 bucks absolutely clean because I gave like 60m to my friend before I quit. I was like a level 108 with low defense but wow I am glad I quit. I hear that the wilderness is gone now so there is not much left to miss other than the people that I met. Haha wow my advise is to not play. I am still trying to forget pointless information from that game 2 years after stopping.

But no you don’t have to be addicted to play. For the last year or so I mostly just played when I was bored or had spare time.
If you think about it, runescape teaches you alot of things. Look back at all the new and weird words you learned and found meanings to. runescape teaches you persistance and how to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
I played for awhile, but then i quit. but before i quit, i sold all my member stuff so that if i started playing again i would be able to buy stuff that i needed at current prices (they drop over time and i wanted to protect my money). but the nonmember worlds suck and i don’t want to pay for membership cuz i’m so out of it. i was a level 97 and had a bunch of money when i quit. oh well. it’ll probably sit there for awhile until i can remember my password lol.
I have an account, haven’t played in ages, thinking of starting again. My account’s name is Zysten (can’t remember exactly why I chose that name), it’s level 43 and I usually play on world 107 if I play, because it’s an Aussie world.

I used to play nonstop got 86 combat 70 in hitpoints, strength, defense, and attack i also got 87 Fletching and 85 mage.
i got bored with it so i quit i look back now and see how sad my life was for
3 years and you don’t get anything out of it i had to have played a total of 400 + hours.
so anybody reading this if your thinking of starting a runescape account don’t its a wast of time.

what’s the fastet way to make money on the free worlds? i have recently dabbled in playing again and i need rune armor.
muaha noobs. I had over 100m when I played, and depending on the price of rares I probably have even more now. Not that I care. If only it was still possible to sell it

free play is just too boring to put that much time in.

I dont play anymore though. I log in here and there to talk with a friend, but now that he lives closer and finally has a cellphone, I can just call or go over if I need to talk to him. I dont really like the trading system and taking out the wild. It still tops other MMos quest wise cause you are actually playing through the story line, and not just “Go here, kill 30 of these, come back, now kill this next thing until you have 30 of these, and then give those to me, then talk to a guy in town, kill one last bigger guy, and done.” That type of questing is dumb as hell because then the game becomes a grind. Kill kill kill, level level. Not much to do no matter how hard you try to excuse it. Thats why I hate WoW. Nothing special in that game cause you just grind, and have to pay to do it.
There are plenty of free games that are equal to WoW in every way, except for the fact you dont pay monthly fees. F2g. Free to grind. lol
Blade and Soul does look ok for a month, but it also looks like grinding.
Very few players were into the bils. Basically had to merchant very well or have 91 RC (and spend ages RCing) for that. I agree that some of the quests were good. I remember mournings end part II was an awesome quest (and the whole plague city series). But some of the other quests were really boring, just walking back and forward etc. I just logged back on and I’m glad I quit lol. I did learn some life skills and whatever from it but overall it was 3 years of my life wasted that I’ll never get back lol. Basically just don’t play MMORPG’s.
