Rubiks Cubes

haha, yeah, that’s probably why. I think I spent maybe 2-3 hours per week trying to get it during that time.

I learned to solve the Rubik’s Cube on my own without the aid of a book or help guide. That was back in the 80’s when the cube was the new thing. My method was slow and inefficient, but it was mine. I never fully figured out how to solve the corners from every situation. The corners required some luck for me to solve. I still remember I was sitting on the organ bench at home after school when I solved it the first time.

Then I got the solution method published by Ideal and learned that method. It goes top layer, corners, bottom layer, then middle layer. Not a fast solution either, but much more efficient than the clumsy method I came up with.

Then I learned how to do the 4x4.

I still remember how to solve the 3x3. I cannot solve the 4x4 now. Forgot the moves.

After that I stopped playing with the cubes. I never learned a speed solving method. Things are too easy now with the internet giving away so many different speed solving methods. We didn’t have that when I was playing with the cubes.

my best on 3 times 3 is 1 minute 30 secs

You know i went shopping 2day and for the 1st time saw a rubiks sphere (not cube). Now that’s unique. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

I have one of those. Its solved the same way, but just kinda hard to recognize and get use to.

KH.

How’d you do that?

I wanna do the same! What kind of paint did you use? Some of my stickers are coming off and it’s becoming unsolvable.

Painting it works, but what works better in my opinion is to buy replacement stickers from http://cubesmith.com
The textured tiles are my very favorite, they work wonderfully (:

Great site! I think I’ll order some of those tiles.

Thank you.

I was really into speedcubing for a while a couple of months ago. My fastest time was around 35 seconds though :frowning: I’ve tried to learn the Fridrich method, but I’m having a tough time memorizing the Last Layer algorithms. I’ve solved a 4x4 many times, and am working on the 5x5 now. I’ve also bought some of the cubesmith tiles, they are amazing! I’ve tried painting my cubes, but they always seem to have problems. I would recommend tiles.

By the way, I’m new here, and have just barely become interested in unicycling! I’ll try to post on here a lot, so look out for me.

i haven’t done it for a while so now it would probably take like 5 mins or so but i used to be able to get like sub 4 it was pretty cool

rubiks cubes are for nerds

w00t for nerds!!

My best time is just under 1 second! (that’s the time it takes me to pick it up!) :sunglasses:

I can only do the top and 2 rows but last night i fluked a solution except two of the corners are incorrectly orientated (in the right place but not the correct rotation). I’m not going to be able to continue for months now because the thought of scrambling this masterpiece is to much to bear.

I learnt how to do them the other day!

Now I find them pretty easy now, so I just try solve them as fast as I can, I can get it out in about 2-3 minutes.

I can pretty much do it always under 2 minutes. The time I get to examine it helps me alot too.

When people say it takes them 40seconds or whatever, is that how long it takes to solve from a special position or do you just mess it up randomly before you begin?

I completed a cube with the help of a book writen by a 10year old cubemaster.

That is from a random mess up.

the book also told how to do some weird patterns but i’m not into rubix cubes that much

i have a new best time!! 1min and 32 secs!! i’m happy. but that was with my friends cube that was loose mine is freakishly tight…bleh! o well yea that’s my best time so far with a good cube
