Hi all,
I’m back from my first day of qualification for Ride The Lobster .
It was a great riding day, except for the hot wheater!
I’ll post details and pics soon, but meanwhile here is some stats:
Total riding distance = 89.99 km
Vertical distance = approx. 350 m
Total riding time = 4h 25min
Average speed = 20.37 km/h
I hope tomorrow’s going to be as succesful!

Excellent ride - super! Have a nice day tomorrow!
Congrats on day 1. Just from the stats it sounds like it’s been a good day so far.
Best of luck for day 2. I actually found day 2 not quite as hard as day 1 (but you pay for it on day 3!) so you should be ok
Oh, and even more luck with the write up. It’s almost 2 weeks now and I’ve not quite finished mine :o

That’s awesome Vince!!! I should be in Nova Scotia for the event (not racing, but filming), and I think it’s gonna be a pretty cool event.
Go Vince Go!!!
A bientot.
Tim
Thanks for cheering!
I made it!
Day 1 :
Total riding distance = 89.99 km
Vertical distance = approx. 350 m
Total riding time = 4h 25min
Average speed = 20.37 km/h
Day 2 :
Total riding distance = 87.89 km
Vertical distance = at least 200 m
Total riding time = 4h 45min
Average speed = 18.52 km/h
I can say that today was harder than yesterday. I had a good head wind for 50k, and it gave me a hard time!
Full right up coming this week.
-Vince
Congrats on day 2!
By my reckoning thre’ll now be 3 of us come June next year so far. So, come on the rest of you, don’t leave it too late!
STM - looking forward to the write up

Way to go, Vince.
I’ll be attempting a 50 miler today (this one ) and I’ll see for sure if I really want to do this. I’ll be using you as my inspiration. “What would Vince do?”
Then me, Roland, and this new Albany rider Perry, have to do the RTL qualifier eventually.
Good luck Steve!
I think the only challenge you may encounter in a race like that, is not having enought elevation gain! (pfft only 2000 feet )
Will you be on your 29’’?

Nope - I did it on my Radial 36er w125mm cranks. I’ll post about the ride in a separate thread.
