RTA Cycle Sydney - Done

Hi

On the weekend I took part in the RTA Cycle Sydney. This is a 50km or
20km cycle from North Sydney to Paramatta (western Sydney). I have done
the 50km’s last year on a bike, and this year as I had the Coker I did it
on that instead.

For those of you who read my post on the Sydney to Gong’ you know that I
had problems with going a bit numb in a few places. I found that it was
caused by the air saddle being too soft. I was riding with it harder so I
didn’t go as numb but I still had to take regular breaks (about every
10kms or so) to relieve the pressure.

I didn’t have as much luck staying on the Uni and I had countless UPD’s,
it didn’t help that I was having a real problem free mounting and I was
sometimes taking up to 3 or 4 goes to get back on after a break, UPD or
at a set of traffic lights.

All in all it was great fun and as I approached the finish line I was
getting cheered on by a group of riders who had already finished. This is
a definite must for next year again.

Thanks

Good work, James. Sometimes those Coker freemounts are elusive with an audience. If you can get on the thing at all it’s usually impressive enough for onlookers. I have a very reliable rolling mount that i can even nail going up moderate hills but every once in awhile I’ll miss two or three in a row hurrying at a stoplight. I attribute it to stagefright because it COULDN’T be a lack of skill.
How long did it take for the 50k?

I started at about 7:30am and about half way through I was aiming for an
11:30am finish, I did this with a few minutes to spare.

I had about 3.5 hours of riding time.
