…at least in our lives. After a long awaited nine-month struggle to buy a house in the hometown of my new teaching job, we ran out of time and found a For Sale By Owner home, offered, and closed nine days later. We spent nearly 20 years in Rochelle and finally moved into our new home in Bourbonnais, IL last week. It’s a great ranch home just outside of town on 1.3 acres and has a great screen-in porch. Here’s our new home: http://3280sportsmanclub.com/photos Of course with property of this size, I had to buy a new toy…a John Deere 345 lawn tractor with a 54" deck. I’m in love!
Ben stayed in Rochelle to continue attending college while Brad moved out here with us and started his junior year at Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School. I won’t have him in class as he is a math whiz and I teach resource math to at-risk students. At least I can see him in the hallways and embarrass him there. He is fitting in very well with his new soccer team and, even he’s the new kid, managed to land a starting position on the varsity team.
Life is grand and we love our new adventure. The Kankakee State Park is 4 miles down the road. The towns have lots of amenities and the people here are great. Mary and I could easily see the next 20 years right here.
How many wheels on that mini tractor, Bruce? Danny Colyer can mow a lawn with one wheel while holding a pint. And he has metric grass in England. I expect no less from you.
It’s a nice looking home. Please say “howdy” to Mary, Ben, and Brad for me.
Congrats, and just in time for the school year. Big yard with big trees just in time for Fall. You may be looking for a leaf sweeper to tow behind the mower, or you could just send Ben out with a rake.
Love the sign on the porch. You should add that to your sig. “Welcome to the porch”
Tye Kankakee area is really nice, glad that you like it over there. I go around there every once in a while (and probably might be over there this weekend) and always enjoy it
