Thought I’d throw this in just to clarify my fears. Top of second page, tire blowing off 42mm rim.
I’m interested in a 29" tire for purely riding on roads, streets, and sidewalks. I don’t go off-road and don’t plan any significant such activity. I currently have a CST Critter that I ride at 60psi. I find that on certain kinds of streets and pavement it feels soft and squishy.
I’ve had bicycle shops recommend Kenda or Schwalbe tires but I’d like to hear from unicyclists. So for those who primarily ride 29ers on paved roads and sidewalks, what tire do you use and why do you like it or not? Tha…
I keep thinking that I got this figured out, then I read another post like in that thread. Ideally, I’d just get the Marathon Supreme or BA 2.0, but don’t want to be blowing off tires.

I’ll start:
Me: 45yo, 200#, riding 2+ years, 2-3x week year round, mostly single track, some double track on a 36er, spend 3/4 of my riding on a 26er mounted with an Intense DH 2.5" I prefer tires with a stiff sidewall and a flattish profile. I ride longer cranks, prefer big torque over fast sprinning. I don’t ride road.
