I had a little crash this past sunday and wrote a review about
the Roach pads I was wearing at the time. Details on Muniac
Manor bulletin board forum = "Product Reviews", topic = "Roach
Pads" Later.
THAT IS VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY DISGUSTING! and yet, i did look at the picture for quite some time, and i did right all of those "very"s buy hand. i was not told that there were going to be pictures, THERE ARE PICTURES, they are nasty, bu you r friend a new sock, and your other friend a new bandaid, or just wash that one.
That is one really BAD scrape you have there. And you’re right that it
could have been worse, because without the pads you’d be looking at a
very shattered knee cap. At about 1.5" across I’d say you need stitches.
Did you go to the hospital? Stitches will allow the skin to close up
much better.
And the photo is NOT DISGUSTING. Thank you for sharing your experience and
photos. It could have happened to any one of us. For those that can’t take
it, you’d never make a respectable Uni-doctor.
On the bright side you’ll be able to concentrate on upgrading your web
site, which hopefully will help with the uni-withdrawl symptoms you will
experience.
You’re telling yourself you can’t ride until you’re healed, right? You’re
not going to ride until the layer that keeps all your goop inside your
body has grown back to it’s air tight seal, right?
P.S. Have you looked at hockey shin pads? They’re hard plastic and maybe
designed to withstand the pinpoint force you experienced. What about
kevlar? Many layers of kevlar?

my god man that sucks! i have cut my shins with almost everything from mountain biking and had a pair of fox pads that had the hard plastic outer casing and they could withstand me goin over the bars at like 35mph through a rock gardens.(damn fallen tree! nice forearm gouge though) yea so i recommend the pads with the hard outer casing. they work quite well.
