Roach Armour: Is it Breathable?

So if you’ve been to the Roach website recently you’ll notice that only have
one type of leg armour - the Indy Legs. This isn’t a big deal because Mr.
Bedford says he’ll be selling the DH legs in September so I’ll probably end
up getting them from him. However, I emailed Roach and they told me this…

“They still have the HDPE in the full leg. Currently these legs are the same
as before, but we do have revamped armour with more breath ability, more
protection, etc, coming out next spring.
Let me know if you have anymore questions, Thanks

In response to this…

Do these newfangled Indy Legs have any HDPE in the knees or do they just
have the foam?

If they don’t, do you make/sell anything that does have HDPE in both the
shins and the knees?

Alex

So is breathability a real problem with the current DH legs? In light of
being pushed off (and for a whole host of other reasons) I need something
soon but I could get some cheap knee pads and wait until the spring if it’s
really worth it.

you tend to sweat in them, but they are washable…

they have nukeproof DH armour. arm an’ leg for $49, currently. they screwed up an’ only charged me a dollar for shippin’. you may get lucky too…
in so far as i can tell, they are completely the same as my roach armour, without the cute canada an’ roach logos. due to the magic o’ the sharpie pen, mine now say “uke pro”. hmmm, i need a ukelele now i guess…

I got my Roach DH legs from Duke’s cycle in TO. $100. I love’em. I’ve ridden as hot as the rest of me can handle (had to remove helmet, as I was holding far too much heat under it). The DH legs are fine. You get sweaty legs, but you don’t really notice it until you take them off, and when the air hits your sweaty, hot legs, it’s a cool soothing feeling. It’s almost an organic experience.

Re: Roach Armour: Is it Breathable?

Thanks Sofa, that was more or less what I wanted to hear - you sweat (of
course) but it’s not too bad.

Alex

P.S. I’ve never tried removing my legs but I doubt I’d find it a cool and
soothing sensation. I guess you’re just lucky.

i bought the nukeproof armor aswell, turns out they go creap on the price because they use a cardura nylon instead of the balistic nylon that roach uses…the guy on the phone at airbomb lied to me i think when he said they were produced in the same factory at roach…or is roach made in china? and he definitely said they were exactly the same as the roach cept for the white paint over the top.

they screwed up my shipping as well, but i wanted it 3 day and they sent it ground…still charging me for 3 day…

Last time I checked the Nuke Proof stuff it clearly didn’t specifiy the same quality materials… then again, you heard that before in this post:

Da’ Info

or perhaps whas it here?:

Useless Repetition

Anyway, search function of this forum rocks!

My Roaches are going on a year old; if anything, they’re more comfortable now than when I first got 'em. The straps have streatched a bit and the shell is wearing- but switching legs has solved both of these problems.

They are hot enough that I’v hesitated to get arms and spine protection; I could definately use the Roach arms (Perhaps Winter?). Anybody use the DH Arms? Do you feel like some giant is waiting for you to finish cooking before cracking the armour open?
